Q: Could right side chest pain that radiates be a warning sign that I’ve had a minor heart attack?
I was recently diagnosed with blood clots and have been having TIAs or mini-strokes. The other day I had an unexplained pain in the right side of my chest radiating down my right arm and into my back. I got very sick to my stomach. This feeling past after about 15mins, but reoccured later that night. I found rest helped.

A: With your background I would suggest seeing your doctor.

from what I hear a person can have pains just about anywhere when suffering with a heart attack. But, it could be a pulled muscle, indigestion or a host of other things.

Q: Side chest pain when I get hyped up/emotional?
I have a pain on my left side of my chest, under my underarm and it seems to only happen when I get really amped up or emotional. Is this anxiety or could it be heart related? I got an EKG and chest X-ray done about a month ago and it was okay. Any ideas?

A: Chest pain is a symptom of an anxiety attack.

Many people mistake anxiety attacks for heart attacks. If your chest X-ray and EKG turned out fine, you shouldn’t worry. It just sounds like anxiety to me.

Q: What causes brief right side chest pain?
I’m 20 years old and the pain only lasts for a second but it keeps coming back. I’m not having shortness of breath nor do I feel light headed.

A: This sounds like a muscle spasm, possibly
a pinched nerve, or if it were closer to the
center of the chest might even be GERD.
I suspect it is likely a result of posture causing
a strain on the spine.

It is hard to make a good guess, and could
even be caused by a bra putting strain on the
nearby nerves.

Drink more water, and avoid caffeine, alcohol,
smoking and artificial sweeteners.

If the pain persists or worsens, consult your Physician.

Good Luck~

Q: I have high blood pressure associated with left side chest pain.?
I went to the hospital yesterday to have it checked out but after a heart ultra sound and ECG and various blood tests everything was normal with my heart. What did happen though was my blood pressure went sky high and had to bought down by medication while at the hospital. Is this the cause of my left side chest and shoulder blade pain.? Even though the pain today isnt so bad as yesterday should i be concerned with my heart and health?

A: Yes, you should be concern.
What you had at the hospital could be called a hypertensive crisis, which is really a diagnosis of very high blood pressure based on a sliding scale of severity. I’m glad to hear that your EKG was normal as were your cardiac enzymes (blood test).

However, how old are you and what is your cholesterol level?
High blood pressure + high cholesterol can cause blood vessel blockage, and a block blood vessel that feeds the heart will result in a heart attack. Your age plays a factor in how good and flexible your blood vessels are, as one gets older the pipes get more rigged, high blood pressure can cause them to break or burst (aneurysms).

See your GP or Family doctor and find out why your blood pressure is high. Blood pressure medication may be needed.

Control your blood pressure and lower your cholesterol.
Diet and exercise and you will be fine.

Q: left side chest pain for months? What could it be?
I went to a clinic, they did an xray and a blood test.
The xray showed up normal and my cholesterol was 152. The doctor said it’s not cholesterol because clogged arteries would take years to build up.

The pain only last for 1-2 seconds and sometimes (rarely) even happens in the right side of the chest.

It usually happens when I’m sitting slouched over or laying down.

I’m 6 feet, 281 pounds.
sometimes I feel it in the neck and jaw as well.

A: Well, it’s not a cardiac problem or a lung problem because they would’ve been picked up by the x-ray and the cholesterol test. If you play a lot of sports, you could have damaged the left pectoral muscle (pulled it). I would simply advise you to relax, maybe stay off of the sport for a week and if it’s still bothering you, go back to your doctor.

Q: What causes chest pain in the left side of chest?
Yesterday I got a really sharp pain in the left side of my chest while I was watching a movie. It worsened when I started moving around. I don’t know what caused the pain.

A: A lot of people are saying that it could be a heart problem which while true, in my opinion is less likely than it being a G.I. disturbance, for example, acid-reflux or gas. The reason I say this is because based on your description, it sounds like you had no other symptoms besides brief pain. Often, heart problems present with more than just chest pain. Other symptoms that could signal a heart problem include weakness, shortness of breath, pain that radiates to your jaw or shoulder, fainting, nausea, fast heart beat, confusion–too many to mention. If this is the first time that you’ve ever experienced this pain, keep an eye on it and track your symptoms. If you HAVE experienced this pain before, I would make an appointment with your Doctor right away. If you want to err on the side of caution, call your doctor, let him/her know your symptoms, and see if they want you to come in. Best of luck to you!

Q: i have chest pain in the centre of my chest and someitmes towards right side?
sometimes i feel pain towards right side of chest and all over, does anybody have idea what could b the cause?
i did ECG & CBC test but was normal.

A: You need to get seen by a doctor! Chest pain can NOT be diagnosed on a website! Go to the doctor!
btw – whether the chest pain is on the left or right is irrelevant to heart problems, the fact that it’s in the middle is a concern and then it radiates to one side! You are risking getting uneducated answers on here, so please just go to your doctor and get checked. Goodluck!!

Q: What could be the cause of this chest (upper right side) pain?
Wednesday I ate and half hour later I threw up everything I ate. Thursday I start feeling a light chest pain but today it takes a whole different level: I can’t yarn, laugh, caught nor take deep breaths. I have insurance but it’s such a hassle to go to the ER and get an X-ray now (10:20 PM for me now). If you were in my position right now, would you be worried about this pain? I am in my mid 20s….

A: Definitely go into the ER something could be seriously wrong. Do you know if you have asthma (do you have chest tightness as well?)? You may also have some sort of chest infection or something. If I was in your position I would go into the ER since it is better safe then sorry, sure it will take a while but if there is something seriously wrong then that time was well wasted.

Q: Left side chest pain right over my heart?
feels like spasms they come on 3-4 times a day for the last 3 months, could this be heart related? how long does cardiac pain usually last?

A: It could be heart related. Also could be your muscles, chest wall pain. You said spasms, so sounds like muscles. You might have some arthritis!

When this happens, lay down flat, and put both arms over your head, on whatever your laying on. If pain is still there within 5 or 10 minutes, go to the Emergency Room! I use to get the chest wall pains, and I have arthritis. The doc once told me to do this, and if the pain didn’t go away in that time frame to then seek medical help, as if MIGHT be heart.

Anyhow do yourself a favor and get it checked anyway, just to be safe! You can never be too safe when it comes to the heart!

Q: I have right side chest pain it’s about a 5 on a scale og 1 to 10?
It’s in my back and on my chest to under my right Brest. I’ve had acid reflux lately if that has anything to do with it. My doctor did a EKG and blood test everything came out fine if you know what it help please! It also is on the left sometimes.

A: YOU MAY WANT TO KEEP TRACK OF YOUR DIET – YOU MAY BE GETTING A GALLBLADDER ATTACK – TRY WITH A LOW PROTEIN AND LOW FAT DIET FOR AWHILE IF THAT IS FEASIBLE FOR YOU – PROVIDING THAT YOU ARE NOT A DIABETIC

AND IF THAT DOESN’T DO THE TRICK HAVE YOUR MD SUGGEST A GI MD – YOU MAY HAVE TO BE DOPED THEN SCOPED (IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN)

Q: right side chest pain hearts when deep breath, touch or move?
having right side chest pain since two weeks done X- rays,EKG and blood test from lugs result came out as a normal but, still pain is there even when I breath, move or touch what it could be and what could be the cure?

A: right side yes? if that is case then unlikely anyhting to do with heart as heart is on left side. this can be several things such as broken rib, lung problem, pulled or stressed pectoral (brest/chest) muscle, or even a throat problem – not just typical sore throat, more like a cancer or something. Most likely it is muscular and without muscle relaxants you may never get better, or at least not for long time. Especially if you are worried about it which makes muscle tense up. The muscle has to relax to heal. HAs to. Outside of going to doc, some streetwise ways of dealing with any strained muscle are getting drunk which relaxes you and often sleep long & relaxed too, a very good and long massage, sauna, or heat combined with relaxing music. All those have to be followed by babying the injured muscle for a while.

Q: Is an unusual chest pain in the right side a symptom of a heart stroke?
I am under medication “zimvastatin 10mg” due to high levels of cholesterol in my blood. Today I’m having an unusual pain in the right side of the chest. The pain comes on & off. Quite difficult when the pain comes. I did not tell anyone yet. I am in my office. Can anyone please tell me immediately why I have this? A: OK, you need to definintely call your doctor. This is not something to be taken lightly, chest pain is a serious side effect of naproxen, in other words you should not be having it. Call your doctor immediately and tell him what’s going on. He should change your meds to something else.
