Q: joint pain?
i have what i believe to be joint pain in my thumb,it feels like my joints hurt….i went to the doctor and he did inflammatory marker tests which came back negative….do you think i could be feeling another pain that i am thinking is joint pain, maybe nerve pain or something?……..

A: Start taking MSM. It’s a vitamin. Worked like a charm for my grandpa! He is off his pain meds and everything. Take MSM and drink more water.

Q: Joint pain?
I have mild joint pain in 2 of my fingers and my knees? I am 43 years old. Do you think it could be the beginnings of something serious? I have had this pain for a few months now

A: Walking will help your knees and knitting will help your fingers. The trick is to keep the joints warm and with blood flowing through them–regardless of the reason for the joint pain.

You should see your doctor to get a diagnosis. Try to avoid the pill regimens, because you start on ibuprophen and then that doesn’t work anymore and you have to go to naproxen, then when that loses effectiveness they want to put you on Celebrex, etc. etc.

I’ve taken aspirin on occasion if the pain returns for whatever reason, but managing it with exercise and wam moist heat seems to work better than painkillers.

Q: Joint Pain?
I’m about 14 years old, and I sometimes have joint pain. What can I do to cure it so it won’t hurt so badly?
Thanks!

A: I had arthritis at your age, I am sure it is excepted these days in children. Go get the blood test done to see if it shows up.
Do you have relatives with arthritis? Like in my family it skipped a generation.
Go to the doctor, first see the nurse at school. Hopefully you just pulled something (better then arthritis, so many variations of it).
You are not one of those kids who cracks your knuckles and other parts of your body because you think it is cool? Good don’t!
Good luck and if today is better then when I was a kid you wont have to jump up and down for someone to listen to you!
Be careful of some of these drugs, very addictive!

Remember this name, Ibuprofen (inflammatory) it just might be your new best friends….

Q: Joint PAIN???!!!?
Ok, this is actually about my mom.
She has been experiencing joint pain in her lower arms, and hands for a couple of month. Starting with muscle pain in the area, and now in her feet and toes, arms and hands with severe pain and some swelling.
She went to the ER couple days ago, she was diagnosed with Arthralgia and referred to a Rheumatologist. Her appointment it’s in 2 weeks, but the pain gets worst sometimes. She says on a scale 1 to 10 its like an 8.

She read somewhere that some medications that she takes may be related to the pains, Lipitor and Premarim. So I will like to know if anybody knows anything about that.

Im just really worried and concerned about what it could be.
So any information will be appreciated.
THANK YOU!!!!..=)

A: My doc just put me on Lipitor, and he said to watch out for body aches & pains.

BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN THAT THAT IS WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOUR MOM!!!

Keep the appointmen, please, a rhuematologist is a very good doc for her to see to figure this out.

Q: What is a joint pain specialist called? I know the doctor said something about skeleto?
I have had chronic severe hip, back and joint pain for the last 9 months and the doctor has referred me to a hospital specialist for treatment, injections, MRI …? Can anyone tell me the title of this kind of specialist as I need it to fill in a DLA form? I know it was quite a long name and included something like skeleto?

A: Orthopedic Consultant/Doctor – Skeletal System

Rheumatology Consultant/Doctor – Musculoskeletal System

Orthopedic would usually deal with ‘joint replacements’ or broken bones and via surgery.
Rheumatologist, the name for the Rheumatology Consultant deals with Arthritis via drugs, injections, PT, hydrotherapy. Therefore I would state you will see a Rheumatologist first. Now IF say your hip is so bad that you cannot walk, or need lots of serious pain killers just to walk, let alone a zimmer frame, the Rheumatologist will transfer you to a Orthopedic Consultant for a hip replacement.

Q: How do you handle joint pain from lyme disease?
I’ve recently been diagnosed with lyme disease, and it’s been pretty brutal. I’ve been given antibiotics to handle the infection itself, but my insurance won’t cover medication to deal with the arthritis that’s developed as a symptom. It hurts too much to walk, sit up straight, move my left arm or even turn my neck. Does anyone here have suggestions for dealing with nasty joint pain like this? I’m only 18 and start school soon.

The key is to increase blood flow to the problem area; fresh nourished blood has vital oxygen
and energy that aides to eliminate the pain and heal the body

The only way to get reinforcements inside our highly complex human body is through the
Circulatory systems that provide vital source needed for all life — which is oxygen and the
carrier being blood.

Unfortunately the blood through your arteries is not like free flowing water through a plumbing
System — the blood needs to be pushed into the remote areas. The impure blood needs to be
Pumped back against gravity into the heart for oxygenation.
Due to lack of activity or stress or sedentary / busy life style
Stretching is not occurring and there is a blood traffic jam in the pipes (thereby increasing free radicals in the impure blood #1 aging accelerator ) and blood circulation weakens which causes several chronic ailments like

Leg callves pain , Back pain , stress, fatigue , depression , lethargy , aging , early wrinkles , low immunity etc…

Q: How to tell the difference between joint pain in knees and muscle pain?
I do heavy squats about 3 days a week and sometimes I can’t tell if the joint is in pain or the muscles surrounding them are. Does anyone know anything I can do to help me figure it out?

A: muscle pain from squats is usually in the thighs and butt

there arent really knee muscles, sounds like ur joints

Q: How can you tell the difference between joint pain and muscle pain?
Is it joint pain or muscle pain that stops almost immediately when you quit moving or change positions to rest or get relief for the suddenly very sore area?

A: Very seldom, if ever, are you going to feel joint pain. There are no pain receptors in the joints or ways of sending messages. You are really feeling the pain in the muscles around that joint, ones that have become inflamed or are having pressure put on them. So the real answer is it’s all muscle pain.

Q: What is the best way to relieve my joint pain naturally?
My hip, thumb and finger joints are starting to hurt as I get older. I don’t want to take pain drugs. What is the best way to relieve my joint pain?

A: You need to eat an anti-inflammatory diet. This means lots of garlic, onions, turmeric, ginger, green tea, citrus and berries. It also means no white sugar, no white flour and no white rice.
Good luck.

Q: How long should it take for joint pain to subside following an attack by yellow jackets?
I was stung several times about 2 months ago, and developed minor joint pain about 2 weeks later. The pain has intensified over time, and has become more constant.

I would estimate that I was stung between 20 and 30 times. Most were in my calves and ancles.

Although several sources claim that yellow jackets do not leave a stinger, I know for a fact that these were yellow jackets, and I had six stingers left inside. Two in my right leg, and one each in my left leg, each arm, and left side.

The joint pain was in my knees, hips, shoulders, and elbows. My knees and hips are ok now, but my shoulders and especially my elbows have continued to worsen.

Any suggestions?

A: If there was a stinger in your leg it wasn’t left by a yellow jacket….their stingers are smooth like a hypodermic needle, so you were likely stung by more than just yellow jackets.
You are haveing a reaction to a protein in the venom you were injected with. You will need a shot of cortisone, and some anti-inflamatory drugs to stop the immediate pain and arthritis…..you must see a doctor an internist will do or an allergist would be better.
Since you have waited so long you may have started to develop arthritis…..so be prepared to find a rheumatologist or a damn good internal medicine doctor.
Good Luck !

Q: What can I do about joint pain while working out?
I’ve been using the bench press for about a month now, and I’ve had great results. The problem is, about three days ago I developed joint pain in and around my shoulders. I don’t want to stop using the bench press because it’s the best piece of workout equipment I have and I’ve gotten fantastic results. Is there something I can do to stop this pain?

A: Just use lighter weights. And don’t excercise every day- do something like every 3 days you take a break, or at least use light weights. I’d also try using OTHER excersise equipment as well.
Oh, and heating pads work wonders. :)

Q: What natural remedies would you recommend for slipped disc- and hip joint pain?
Have had a slipped disc and as I get oder the pain never really goes away. I don’t want to use conventional NSAIDs as I had nephritis twice as a child. Now I notice I’m also getting a pain in my hip joint when I lie on it. I’d like to know if there are natural remedies that work for relief of chronic pain.

A: * Lie on your back with your knees bent. Keep your back in a neutral position — not overly arched and not pressed into the floor. Avoid tilting your hips up.
* Cough to activate your core muscles. Holding the contraction in your abdominal muscles, raise your hips off the floor.
* Align your hips with your knees and shoulders. Hold this position and take three deep breaths — or for about five to eight seconds.
* Return to the start position and repeat. For a challenge, try alternately extending one knee while maintaining the bridge position.

This actually works. Breathing and alignment plus the movement is an excellent home remedy. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Q: What can help relieve Sacroiliac Joint pain?
I don’t see my Ob/Gyn until the third of July. If the pain continues or gets worse I will call and speak with their nursing staff. I am wondering what I can do in the meantime to help. It is to the point that I get sharp pain everytime I walk. Are there home remedies or exercises for S.I. Joint pain?

I am 11 weeks pregnant, so no anti-inflammatories can be used.
Thank you!

A: If you’re only 11 weeks pregnant, then the sacroiliac pain will become worse over time if not immediately taken care of. The only way to really correct the problem is to see a chiropractor who specializes in prenatal care. You can find one near you on this website: http://www.americanpregnancy.org/members/chiropractors

Q: What is a good suppliment for joint pain ?
I have “SPONDILITUS” and a mild form of rhuematoid authritis. What can I get to help with joint pain that is an herbal suppliment or vitamin ?

A: try taking glucosamine to rebuild and repair joint tissue and cartilege–this can help with the pain over time

Q: What does it mean when you have swollen armpits and joint pain?
I have swollen lymph nodes and joint pain. My throat hurts and I have a headach. I went to the pediatricians a couple of days ago and he prescirbed me an antibiotic. It’s not working. I’ve stayed home from school for the last couple of days. What do I have and what can I do to treat it?

A: Return to the doctor. If the antibiotic is not helping, you need further workup. It could be extremely serious.

Q: What do you do for facet joint arthritis pain?
I have pain all down my lower back, hip, leg, and foot. I take Tylenol arthritis and sometimes Aleve, but it gets worse all the time. The affected joint is L5 S1. Thanks

A: Are you sure that is what it is? Even with a dr. saying so do you fully believe that this is what you have? I have seen and helped some who have told me about their arthritis, the specialists they saw all said that that was what they had. In less than 5 minutes I had them walking without pain. It wasn’t any arthritis at all. You can have tight muscles, pinched muscles, which is so common a thing to have and someone gives it a name so you feel better, you now have a name to a pain and in some way we do feel better knowing that. doesn’t mean everything is correct though. Here is how you can release your back to see if there is another explanation to your pain, a two minute process:
Back:
(do from a sitting position)
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder and find the muscles next to your spine and press on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.

Q: If my joint pain isnt arthritis what is it?
I am 25 and started having knee pain about 5 years ago when I went into the army. Over the next five years other joints have started hurting. Like my elbows, shoulders, and hips. My doctor did a blood test and it said negative for arthritis. Could it still be? Or what else could it be? They hurt even when I am not working out.

A: Rheumatoid arthritis is tested for by a simple blood test and I would think it would be pretty accurate, but if you’re doubting it, you can always request a second test.

As far as what else, it could be a variety of things. There are MANY, MANY conditions that cause joint pain, starting with simple things like Vitamin D deficiency, which is a new epidemic, especially among Northerners and African Americans who don’t get enough sunlight. You may want to get your level checked. You may also want to be checked for Lyme Disease, depending on where you live, what you’ve been doing, and whether you feel you may have been exposed to a tick.

There are also musculoskeletal conditions, like Fibromyalgia, which can be diagnosed by seeing a Rheumatologist. If nothing pans out there, you may have some kind of chronic pain condition.

Q: Has anyone heard about the remedy of gin-soaked golden raisins for arthritis and joint pain?
Did you find success with it? I’d like to hear some success stories. A woman I know stated that it has worked for her and she has stopped taking glucosamine sulfate all together. She was a professional body builder and is now lifting weights again easily without pain.

A: John Kerry’s wife uses it!

There haven’t been any controlled research tests done on it but:

Some think it’s the sulfur or sulphides used in the process of making the “white” or golden raisins. However, according to the Raisin Administrative Committee, “In much of the world, including the USA, the golden raisin is also referred to as a “bleached raisin.” This is an incorrect term, as the dark raisin is not bleached. Rather, the enzymatic browning that normally occurs in a fresh grape is slowed down by treatment of sulfur dioxide gas. The raisin is preserved in a glimmering golden color. In the USA we call this a “golden” raisin.”

Some think it’s the juniper berries used in gin. According to Barry Lazar from montrealfood.com, “The flavour of gin comes from juniper berries. These come from conifer plants, evergreens common in Europe and North America. New berries appear in the fall and can take two or three years to ripen. They are rich in vitamin C and terpenes, the essential oil which, in large quantities is manufactured into turpentine. During the Middle Ages the berries were kept in nosegays to help block the scent of the plague. For centuries, medicinal usage favoured using them in anti-inflammatory prescriptions.”

Some think it’s the raisins. As stated in the Green Pharmacy Herbal Handbook on Mother Nature.com, “If you benefit from gin-steeped raisins, the raisins probably do you more good than the gin. Grapes and raisins contain many pain relieving, anti-arthritic and anti-inflammatory chemicals.”

Some think it’s the placebo effect. It is known that when people believe strongly in a treatment their endorphins and natural pain mediators are enhanced. Also, arthritis characteristically has periods of flares and remissions. You may attribute feeling better to the gin and raisins when it’s truly due to a remission.

Q: What do you recommend for arthritis and joint pain?
Doctor is a lunatic she says nothing she can do for the aches and pains. I seen commercial on tv for Osteo bi flex and looked into a couple more like Phosoplex or Flexarin. There’s gotta be something to help relieve the aches and pains even if it’s just temporary.

A: I have a chronic pain decease and I’m on percocet for 8 yrs. now. Without it I wouldn’t have much of a life. My suggestion to you would be to find a pain management doctor. I have found in the first few years of my illness that there are doctors who don’t care if your in pain, they want you to SUCK IT UP, and I have found very compassionate doctors you don’t want you to be in pain. You need to find one of those, they are out there but mostly in pain management. Do yourself a favor and start looking. There is no reason on earth why you should be living in pain. My thoughts are with you, good luck

Q: can turkey lunch meat (processed turkey) be a cause of joint pain for arthritis sufferers?
I have moderate arthritis and noticed that shrimp and shell fish cause increased joint pain a day or two after consuming them. Can something in turkey luncheon meat cause a similar response?

A: yes it can. try fresh instead

Q: What exercise can be done by a young person with a shoulder and knee joint pain/arthritis?
I Cant do any upper body exercise due to my right shoulder and cant do any lower body exercise due to the knee problem. I tried swimming but it too causes shoulder pain. Have tried different doctors and physiotherapy without any success…….I AM JUST 34 YEARS OLD. HOW WILL I LIVE THE REST OF MY LIFE WITHOUT EXERCISE???, I will probably die young due to lack of exercise. this is very frustrating.

A: You might look into Aquajogging, running in place floating in the pool with a foam belt for bouyancy. Lance Armstrong does it to improve his power. Lots of track athletes do it as well. No impact and it is low speed, so it should be easy on the knee. Or just trying kicking with a kickboard, either with arms extended or kickboard hugged to your chest, and do flutter kick, your knees will stay pretty much straight.

You could do lots of sit-ups and core work as well? You might just have to learn to deal with some pain in anything you do, as hard as that is. Is a little pain worth more years on the life? Sounds like a frustrating situation, hope you can find something that works for you.

Q: What do you’ll do when u get that immense deadly arthritis joint pain?
Arthritis is a medical condition that has been with us for many centuries, i guess its a curse to mankind. Im sure countless millions like me would be suffering from the effects of this disease.

Q: When people suffer from arthritis and joint pain?
Why is it not commonly known that Glucosamine sulfate works the best? Is because the pharmaceutical
industry doesn’t want people to know? Glucosamine has also been used for many years by veterinarians to treat arthritis in dogs, horses and other pets.

A: $$$$$$$$$

Q: When should you talk to your doctor about joint pain or arthritis?
I’m only 18 and I just had major knee surgery in May and I know I still have several months before its healed. But in both my knees I have a constant dull/achy pain. It’s keeping me up at night, I can hardly move in the morning, and stairs are almost impossible. So should I talk to my Dr or just wait a few more months.
I also take alieve everyday

A: You should talk with your doctor now. You are very young to be experiencing this degree of joint pain. Even if you were 20 years older I would give the same advise.

Some of your problem may be compensatory for your bad knee but I would think it is very prudent to look at the problem early. Even if your good side joint pain is compensatory you don’t want to end up having preventable osteoarthritis is your other knee. You may have an underlying major problem like Rheumatoid arthritis. Get it addressed ASAP.

There is no point in waiting. Have it evaluated.

Q: Is joint pain always arthritis?
Im 38 & I have joint pain in my fingers, toes, and now my left knee, as well as in the back of my neck. I have had psoriasis for about 15 yrs and everything points to psoriatic arthritis.

A: according to webmd.com, joint aches could be caused by several things:

-fibromyalgia
-viral syndrome
-lupus
-lyme disease
-mumps
-pms
-rheumatoid arthritis
-scleroderma
-syphilis
-tick bite
-typhoid fever
-west nile virus

Q: What can a pregnant young woman take for joint pain caused by arthritis?
My daughter is pregnant (1-2 months). She suffers from arthritis and since a few days ago has had swelling fingers in feet and hands. Normally she takes Celebrex, but now she cannot take it. Ginger and Tylenol with codeine have been recommended. What else she can do?

A: I have Lupus and had the same problem during my pregnancy! I just took Tylenol and alot of hot baths and showers! If the baby’s father is in the picture maybe he could give her a massage or two! That also helped me!
As for the swelling, definitely call the doctor’s office, during my pregnancy I started retaining water and ended up with pregnancy induced hypertension-high blood pressure! Which is bad for baby and Momma!

Q: Im 25 with bad arthritis pain in my shoulder joint what can I do?
I have really bad arthritis in both of my shoulders every time the weather gets cold. It hurts really really bad and im only 25. What can I do so I don’t have to live the rest of my life like this. My x-rays show nothing.

A: Go toa specialist. You may be able to have an operation etc to fix the problem.

Q: Joint pain, Arthritis?
When I work night shift (12hrs) after sleeping I wake up with major joint pain, it go’s away after I’m up and active?
could this be the starting sign’s of arthritis?
When I work day shift it’s not present

A: YES THAT SOUNDS exactly like arthritis….maybe because after 1st shift you come home and get a chance to relax and stretch…but night shift you go home and go to bed earlier….also if your bed is old it could be time for a new mattress

Q: Anyone have an answer to remedy crippling arthritis joint pain?? OTC meds just don’t work!?

A: Crystal

Please see your family doctor or GP for the area that you live. They will have a knowledge of your medical history. If not, then they are qualified to take and interpet your past medical history.

Arthritic pain is normally controlled well with Prescription Strength drugs. Analgesia (pain killers) combined with anti inflammatory is the treatment of choice.

They are many and varied I STRONGLY ADVICE you NOT to ask queries about analgesia over the internet. Anyone can pretend to have pharmaceutical knowledge. Wrong advice may cause you untold HARM

Q: I get sudden severe pain in my knee and in my elbow. Could this be the start of arthritis or just joint pain?
I’m not a teen. I’m 24.

A: A common myth is that arthritis happens to older people. While it is true that more older patients develop osteo and rheumatoid arthritis, younger patients can and do get these diseases. If it is just one knee and one elbow, it doesn’t sound like rheumatoid arthritis which usually has symmetrical symptoms (it affects both sides of the body).

What is most important is that you get diagnosed by a Dr. to find out the exact cause of your pain. List all your symptoms, and when they happen.

I hope you’re able to get some relief!

Q: Can rheumatoid arthritis pain follow my menstrual cycle?
I have rheumatoid arthritis and celiac disease. I’ve noticed the joint pain is so much worse right before my menstrual cycle. Has anyone else experienced this? I assume it’s from the changing hormone levels. I have little to no pain during the rest of the month.
My doctor says there should be no relation, but it occurs every month like clockwork. He’s referring me to a rheumatologist, but I still think there is a link here.

A: Yes,you are right, not only hormone levels, but also chemical stimulate levels.

Q: Joint Pain at 18 (Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis)?
I will be 18 on the 22nd of this month and I have been experiencing joint pain in my hands and lower arms. Many have said its because I’m still growning but I’m not sure I believe that. I don’t play any sports so it couldn’t be because if that. Do I have Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis?
Oh Sorry! I said lower arm. What I ment was wrist.

A: Hello, before i start juvenile means before 16 so it is not juvenile arthritis. yes it may be arthritis, but for it to be rheumatoid there has to be swelling and this pain has to continue for more than 3 months. Id go and see a doctor. i have got Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis and if it was caught sooner it would have been so much better for me. good luck , i hope you dont have this disease!

Q: Joint Pain…Possible Rheumatoid Arthritis…Please Help?
For the last 6 years or so i have had pains in my joints, knees, hips, wrists, and most severely my shoulders. i started going to the doctors when i was about 17ish and had all the blood tests, which came back negative,i have had this done at least 4 times now. i work in I.T which i suspect does not held my shoulders or wrists and i have to alternate from left hand to right. it has now become very unbearable and i am waking up in the night every time i move as it hurts my joints.in the Morning it takes me at least 2 hours sometimes 4 me just to feel as if i can move freely,(feeling very stiff otherwise). due to my lack of sleep im extremely agitated and easily wound up,which affects everyone around me. i have just had my latest round of blood tests which surprise surprise have come back fine.so i am now back to square one! i am 24 and do not enjoy this one bit…has anyone any suggestions. i have an auntie who lives in spain and she was diagnosed with R.A without blood tests as the doctor there said they are unreliable.here in England i get the impression the “G.P” is always trying to rush me,and make up his mind with out listening first. i am loosing the plot…depression is setting in and i NEED some answers.
i have been refered to a rheumatologist twice before who has told me to monitor my pain, which i have done so for 2 years and still no bloody diagnosis

A: Rheumatoid arthritis can be difficult to diagnose in the young and there is no definite diagnostic test for it, although people with RA often have elevated levels of inflammation in the body (shown by ESR and CRP levels). Can you ask your doctor to refer you to a rheumatologist, who specializes in RA and other autoimmune diseases?

Q: Can any one help me, suffereing with joint pain?
I have sever joint pain in both my wrists, both hips, both knees and occasionally my ankles. I have seen an Orthopedic Specialist, and I have seen a Rhumatologist. Its is not rheumatoid arthritis, and its not tendinitis. I have had the consistent pain for over 10 years. My twin sister is also suffering with this pain.

One suggestion was Lupus, but the blood results were negative.

Does any one have suggestions or advice?

A: What about Osteo arthritis? Or Fibromyalgia? Oh, sorry that’s questions not answers. What about other auto immune conditions. They could check for that.

Q: what are good ways to prevent RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS pain?
my 13 year old girlfriend has polyarticular juvenile rheumatoid arthritis in every joint in her body. the medications she takes aren’t really working for her. does anyone know any medicines, foods, techniques, or anything at all that can help with arthritis pain? she’s in so much pain, all the time, it breaks my heart..

please please help us.
thank you so much in advance

A: i have it too. i’m 18 and i was diagnosed when i was 15. i had to quit rowing (which was my life), and i missed a lot of school on days when it was too bad in my knees and hips to walk around. i kept my schoolbooks in the classrooms so i didnt have to carry them around, and i was allowed to take the elevator to my classes. i’ve taken lots of medications, some of which made my stomach so sick that i stopped taking them. i’ve done physical therapy (useless) and everything imaginable to make it better. i know it was really difficult for my mom to watch me hurting like i was. it’s been better the past year or so, but every couple of months it flares up and the joint damage in my hands makes it difficult to carry things or unscrew lids.

somehthing i tried which i think may have helped was changing my diet. i’ve always been a vegetarian and the research ive done has shown me that thats the best thing to do. its also possible that dairy or gluten can make it worse. i strongly suggest being on a completely vegetarian diet and seeing if things improve over several months.

i sympathize with your situation, but as far as solutions, i can’t tell you any more than your doctor can.

Q: Medical professionals please explain: Basal thumb joint pain appx. 6 months duration. X-rays are normal….?
Now I am being referred to an orthopedic surgeon.. No swelling or redness present. What conditions would an orthopedic surgeon be looking for? If X-rays are normal, but the pain is pretty bad. I am confused. Joint pain is no stranger to me. Off and on in shoulders, fingers, hips. Usually bi-lateral but not always. However this one thumb will not get better. Do I mention to the ortho that I sometimes have pain in other joints?
Rheumatoid factor negative 1 year ago, Positive ANA 10 years ago and negative since then.(Speckled pattern)
Should I mention these at the appointment? Help!
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!
I’m no spring chicken,Door. That is

any help?

Q: What to do about severe joint pain after pregnancy?
I feel like I have rheumatoid arthritis, but I had a blood test and it was ruled out. I can predict rain with these joints now! In especial pain are the tops of my knees and my thumbs (can’t open jars). Also painful are my ankles, toes and fingers.

My OB referred me to my general practitioner. He told me to take ibuprofen, which is helping, but long term I don’t think it’s a good idea to take a constant regimen of it.

Other thoughts? I feel like someone who has lived a good, long life and I’ve got a way to go yet!

A: I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, diagnosed 3 years ago after I turned 30. At first the Rh factor showed up negative, but I was still treated for RA, later on the Rh showed up in blood work. For some reason the Rh factor does not always show up, even though the patient does in fact have the disease.

After pregnancy you are tired- lots of work during labor and stress of having a newborn and lack of sleep makes you feel worn out. Fatigue is a symptom of RA, if after a few months, you still feel like you’re dragging, RA could be the culprit.

A low grade fever often accompanies RA. Morning stiffness that lasts more than 30 minutes. There are other factors that can contribute like family history or weight.

I can relate to how the weather affects your joints- humidity and temperature play a role in how my joints feel.

You may want to ask your GP to refer you to a Rheumatologist who will have a great deal more experience and will be able to give you a better assessment. Taking pain killers will deal with temporary relief, but getting to the source and having it under control is very important, then pain killers won’t be needed as often.

I personally have found that diet (keeping track of what I eat, so I have an idea what foods may trigger pain), exercise and using natural remedies have helped immensely.

I hope you find some answers and relief very soon.

Q: I am having great pain in my hands and feel I may have Rheumatoid Arthritis. What type of doctor should I see
I am having joint pain and it hurts to do the simplist of this. It would appear that there is calcium build up…not that I am a doctor, but my hands are chanaging in appearance and they hurt all the time. Sometimes Tylenol Arthritis helps but not for long.

A: Start with your GP.

After that, move on to a Rheumatologist.

Best of luck to you,
~M~

Q: Could I have rheumatoid arthritis? I have pain in multiple joints, including wrists, elbows, knees, ankles.?
I am only 28 years old, so this is not likely due to osteoarthritis.

The joint pain seems to get worse throughout the day, although it improves with exposure to heat (e.g. hot showers, rubbing them with Icy-Hot). I am also more tired than normal, and the pain is making normal activities (working in the lab, cooking, etc.) difficult. I went to a doctor, and she decided to do various blood test, including one for rheumatoid factor (an indicator of rheumatoid arthritis), but I won’t know the results for several more days.

I have already consulted various on-line sources for information, and was wondering whether anyone here has had experience with rheumatoid arthritis or similar diseases that can give me some information or insight?
I should mention that I live in California, so it is unlikely to be Lyme Disease. Thanks to everyone who is responding!

A: It could also be Fibromyalgia or Lupus. Lyme Disease is also a possibility, but less likely since the tell-tale tick bite (like a bull’s eye target) is pretty distinctive. And it can even be hypothyroidism.

The site below has many possibilities listed. You can click on some of the illnesses in order to learn more about them. If you haven’t been to WrongDiagnosis yet, it is a good place to start, since they are very thorough in listing possibilities.

Q: What are the alternative treatments available for heel, knee joint pain other than swollowing a painkiller?
When the blood test for Rheumatoid Arthritis is negative.

A: This sounds like a sprain. Water retention around the joint after injury – like pointing the feet during exercise – is there to protect the joint.
Epsom salts / Magnesium Sulphate, and keep off it!

Q: What are the consequences of WBC being low around 3500 in blood test? Is joint pains due to this?
I am suffering from pain in extremities and joint pains in my legs. Rheumatoid Arthritis test is negative and so is the ASO titre. No other abnormalities in other Hematinic tests. Suggestions solicited.
Recent Hemogram(automated) – Total WBC is 4800 cells/cu.mm. Hemoglobin in 14.6 gm/dl RBC is 5.03 millions/cu.m
Smear study indicates RBCs are normocytic and normochromic. WBCs are normal in number and morphology. Platelets are adequate in number. No abnormal forms or Hemoparasites seen.
Glucose – Fasting 91 and PP 95; Creatinine is 0.8.

A: The normal wbc count is some where between 11000-12000, your count is too low, precautionary check your HIV test done. your immune power has gone too down, try to keep your surrounding neet and clean and maintain a good level of hygiene. your joint pain might be because of this also. if your RA is negative have your cpk , serum uric acid and blood sugar done. good luck and have a fast recovery.

Q: What could be causing joint pain in 43 year old?
Usually bi-lateral affecting middl joints of fingers, especially pinkies , shoulder, hips. Pain usually lasting a few weeks or more then disapperaing. Some times only one joint ,so not always symmetrical. X-rays all normal , had positive ANA in past, but ANA negative for about10 years now. Rheumatoid factor negative. One thumb joint weak VERY painful permanently, but no swelling. Doc said X-ray normal.
What is going on? I hurt. Should I see another Doc? I feel like an 80 year old. Thank you so much for any help. 10 pnts. quick for you.

A: yes i know the feeling.. could be fibromyalgia.. which is what i have.. not all dr’s acknowledge it as being a true issue, but for those of us that suffer it is so very real. there is lots of sites on the net about it. some arthritis sites also have info linked on there sites to. i went to a naturopath and got some powder stuff to mix with water, it was pretty good. sometimes can also be lack of magnesium. good luck with it all.

Q: Why do I have chronic joint pain?
I have chronic joint pain. I have seen numerous doctors, and they are stumped. The pain is in all joints – shoulders, elbows, wrists, knuckles, hips, knees (worst), and ankles. The pain is constant. It helps to fidget and move around, but when I sit still, the pain is right back. If I exercise or do too much moving, the pain multiplies in strength and sometimes leaves me immobile. X-rays were normal. EKG was normal. Bone scan was normal. MRI of knee showed normal wear and tear, nothing that would cause pain. Blood work is all normal. Rheumatoid factor is normal. Uric Acid is normal. Lyme Disease test negative. Joints have excellent movement and don’t hurt to move. There is no inflammation in any of the joints. The pain cannot be touched; it is deep in the joint, not one place particularly. Doctors cannot find the reason for the pain. Please help me.
Fibromyalgia has been tested for and all came back negative.

A: Your description sounds very much like Lyme disease. The standard lab test for Lyme disease is highly unreliable. It often says you don’t have it, when you actually do. There are other ways of evaluating for Lyme, but it takes someone who understands it more than most doctors do. Recommend you read up on Lyme, and then find someone who can help you definitely rule Lyme in or out.

Q: Leg and arm joint pains since i was 3 doctor says not rheumatoid arthritis.?
since i was 3 i had my 1st attack my legs felt like umm well it hurts bad like pulsates from horrible pain to bad/managable pain. my doctors told me it was growing pains till i was 15 then i got tested. no rheumatoid arthritis. I am completly flexable no stiffness but i do hurt a couple of days befor it rains. when i was 8 the pain spread to my arms when i was 14 spread to my wrist and ankles. now i feel it in my thumbs and toes. advil is no longer working. and i am not able to sleep more then 3 hours at a time without waking up in pain.a rheumatologist said i didnt have rheumatoid arthritis too recently. i am 17 and my family and i dont know what else to do. plz help. these past days have been horrible. Im sorry if i sound a little loopy 4 the past 5 days i’ve only slept like 10 hours because of pain. i just dont know what to do any more im afraid 4 my liver too.

A: I would cut gluten out of your diet. Many cases of juvenile arthritis are linked to celiac disease and other types of gluten intolerance. Try it for a couple of weeks and if it does nothing, no harm no foul.

Q: Only 25 with joint pain, what’s going on?
Hey guys. I could use a little insight. I’m a 25-year-old woman and recently have started having joint pain. For the last couple of weeks, it seems like each morning I wake up and a different joint hurts. Whatever was painful the day before no longer hurts, but something new does. I’ve had the pain in my elbows, wrists and ankles mainly. Today I woke up and my right ankle is so painful that I’m limping. I thought it could possibly be rheumatoid arthritis, but that typically affects smaller joints (fingers, toes, etc.). Anyone got any ideas? I’m too young for this it would seem…I also haven’t injured myself lately either. Thanks for your help!
Interesting insights. I’m not overweight, and I’m in decent shape. I’ve been a diabetic for 13 years, though. However, I’ve never had an issue like this. I was recently abroad in London and Paris, and the pain started when I got back.

A: There are several possible explanations for transient joint pain. Viral infection, Auto Immune disorders, Arthritis conditions..
You really need to see a doctor as soon as possible to rule out a serious medical condition. They can do blood work that can tell them if you are dealing with a viral infection like Chronic fatigue, or mono.. or something else like Lupus or Mixed connective tissue disease.

Q: Joint Pains???
Does anyone else Get Joint/muscle pains as a PMS symptom? How do I deal with it?

A: my gf gets those pains occasionally when she has PMS. She take pills like Tylenol or ibuprofen.

Q: Joint pains???
I had a baby on Nov. 3 and am now having joint pain in my right wrist, right ankle and foot as well as my left elbow. I just went to the doctor and was told that I might have carpal tunnel syndrom starting, but that only explains the pain in my wrist. I don’t know if this is related to having the baby or if it is something else. I have a prescription for motrin and naproxin but neither seem to help much. Any suggestions??? Thanks…

A: I would recommend a consultation with a rheumatologist (a doctor that diagnoses and treats diseases and disorders that involve joints) to see what they think could be going on to cause the problem. It sounds like an autoimmune disorder like rheumatoid arthritis (an example only) could be causing the symptoms.

Q: joint pains?
Im 6months and i have been having really bad joint pain in my fingers, anyone else have it and what did you do for it. I don’t think i injured it.

A: first off talk to your obgyn about this . your body is changing and only your obgyn can give you safe advice about it .
second , are you over doing yourself ? take some time to relax. in the infants department they sell johnson and johnsons lavander baby bath . buy some and relax in a warm [not hot] tub of water with this in it . it is calming and soothing . make sure to keep your fingers summurged in the water .
tylenol has been one of the safe things to take when pregnant . try taking 2 with some warm non-herbal tea. if you want something with flavor try orange or a lemon or berry tea. herbal tea is not always safe when pregnant since some herbs can stimulate contractions.
you can also try heat or cold compresses . since it is your fingers soaking them [ and only them ] in somewhat hotter water that is not too hot is safe . since it is just your hands . sometimes heat or cold will help.
do you have arthritis? unfortunately anti-inflamitories are not safe during pregnancy , but your obgyn may know something that is . most anti -inflamatories are naproxin sodium [naperson] or ibuprophren . both are not safe during pregnancy .
i would give your doctors office a call . usually you can leave a detailed message with the nurse on her/his voice mail if busy and they will talk to the doctor and call you back or they will talk to you right away if they are not busy . i would give them a call ASAP . find out what you can do about it , or find if you need to go in sooner than scheduled.
dont worry about calling them , i know some of us put off asking questions until our next appt , but they really dont mind the call.
good luck and congrats on your pregnancy

These symptoms were on the opposite side of body yesterday. Unable to walk upstairs to bathroom without severe pain.
Could this be viral?
The person in question has a history of COPD and the symptoms above are exacerbating breathelessness.

Q: How to Control Joint Pains with Herbal / Homeo Medicines ?
Hi…..!!!!! Friends

I am a DIABITIC Patient with HYPERTENSION and Hi-LDL CHOLOSTROL. However all the above ailments are under Control.

Presently I am getting severe Knee Joint Pains with Pain in the Musile backside of the leg below the Knee.I am requesting all our Friends to Suggest a Medicine in Herbal or in Homeopathy which are considered to be not having any side Effects.

A: You should see a real doctor instead of asking the quacks here (besides, a lot of herbal ‘medicines’ will interfere with your other medications).

Homoeopathic medicines are just distilled water so they won’t have any side effects but they also won’t have any effects either (if something does not have side effects it probably isn’t strong enough to be worth taking).

Herbs aren’t generally worth taking since the active ingredient of the ones that actually work is available as a drug that because it isn’t contaminated with a whole heap of other junk has more predictable dosing and side effects (herbs tend to have unreliable dosing and also a lot of other stuff, some of which is not at all good for you).

You’d be better off just sticking with evidence-based medicine and staying away from quackery like homoeopathy and herbalism.

Q: Is there any medical proof that weather changes affect body/joint aches and pains?
I have moved from California (a very dry climate) to Oklahoma, (a very humid climate). I am experiencing body and joint pain like never before. I have neck and back problems, but my pain isn’t centered there. I am having pain in every joint, and was wondering if it is linked to this major climate change.
Also, relief is only found in a hot tub or heating pad which is the last thing I want on a hot day. Any idea’s for relief would be helpful.. Thanks!

A: Most likely due to the barometric pressure.

Many people suffer from “barometric migraines”, and people with joint pain, suffer the same consequences as a result.

Wikipedia has some great information, just type in “Pain and barometric pressure/migraine” for a lot of useful information.

Q: How to get rid of joint pains?

Q: What is the cause for severe muscle & joint pains, abdominal pain, blurred vision & thrush at a time ?
What is the cause for severe muscle & joint pains, abdominal pain, blurred vision & thrush at a time ??

please reply me…

i am facing the above symptoms from almost 3 weeks.. does these are the indications for any major disease..

please reply mee..

A: I can’t believe that someone with symptoms like this would be asking people on Yahoo if there could be something wrong. I also find it unbelievable that you would go for 3 weeks like this without getting it checked out. You need to go to your doctor ASAP and if you don’t have a Doctor then go to the EMERGENCY ROOM. None of these things are normal, they are symptoms of an underlying problem and from the sound of it, not a very good one.

Q: What causes Joint pains around the whole body including the ribs/ chest?
Am having pain in all my Joints even the feet and Fingers, At first I thought it is Malaria but it turned out not to be. It sometimes makes me feel Lazy to get up at night. It started with the legs, next the arms now its spreading to the chest. I have not diagnosed for TB yet. A physician told me it could be worms and gave me De-worming tablets. It felt better for two months, Now its six months with this problem, Please help. Thanks.

A: couldve been the worms

Q: If you took Accutane, did you have joint pains and did they go away after treatment?
I’m considering taking Accutane for my acne and the thing I am most concerned about is the joint pains. I have no problem if when I stop the medication they will go away, but I had some people tell me that they now have bad shoulders or knees…um, can you please tell me your experience?

A: I took accutane before, it can help acne but it could also come back again too, mine did. I would try every other thing you could cuz the side effects are scary…ESPECIALLY for women cuz of the risk of birth defects. Also cause bone spurs in feet and yes, I have been off it a long time and have a lot of back pain but not sure if it’s directy related.

Listen to me I can help you- my skin is finally clear and I tried everything, including accutane.

-drink 8 glasses of h2o a day
-wash your face twice a day w/LUKEWARM h2o
-take a multi-vitamin w/o iodine and 50mg zinc
-if you pop a pimple, and its not ready, you can do more damage and it can scar. If you do have to and its ready, wrap your fingers in clean tissue and press down on either side of the zit, not in.
-use fade cream for spots or pigment gel on spot
-use clean PAPERTOWEL each time you wash face to pat dry…and don’t use fragrance in your laundry soap/dryer sheets especially for your pillowcases!!
-use a mild cleanser (Oil of Olay sensitive skin foaming cleanser) and toner (neutrogena alcohol free) twice a day, and a 2.5 benzoyl peroxide topically at night..if not working up it to 5%.

Q: Is there a good way to relieve joint pains other than aspirin?
I used to get pains in my elbow and shoulder when playing tennis, and I learned to manage them. In the last few years I am starting to get pains in a knee and a foot. I am concerned that it will get worse. Anybody have anything good to tell me about it?

A: bengay!.

Q: Why do I have joint pains all over the body, I’m on Remicade for Ulcerative colitis?
Hi, I’m on a monthly remicade for UC for about 18months now. Every time after about 3 weeks, I get this multiple joint pains. Every day some other joint hurts… it could be neck, fingers, wrists, knees, ankles, shoulders… any joint(s). Did anyone experience this when on remicade?
I have UC since 1998. Remicade is the best medicine I have taken as far as UC is concerned. I was on NSAIDs, Prednisone, 6-mp, Homeo, Ayurvedic, Chinese, Ayurvedic. None of them helped. Remicade totally controls my UC but as it starts wearing off, I get these severe joint pains. I saw Rheumatologist. He could not diagnose why. I was wondering if anyone had this problem.
I was on regular Acupuncture treatments too :(

A: Remicade is for both Crohn’s diease and rheumatiod arthritis, I know your taking it for ulcerative colitis but the common side effects include muscles aches, and back pain. With all the info I found on this med I found nothing about joint pain. You might want to talk to your doctor.

Q: Should i continue to exercise if it causes me joint pains?
After walking i’m in quite a lot of pain, hip joints, leg joints, it so bad that it’s painful to walk for a few days afterwards…. This isn’t muscular, but joint pain…

A: Swimming is excellent cardio exercise with very little pressure on the joints

Q: Does the joint pain relief drops work for dogs?
I’ve seen this advertise on TV and my sister’s dog seems to be in pain in his hind legs. Thought I get some opinions before I buy this for her dog.

A: Glucosamine products for humans are available as two forms – glucosamine hydrochloride and glucosamine sulfate. While the two forms are similar in how they work in the body, they differ in their purity and sodium content.

The glucosamine hydrochloride form is a more pure form, containing 99% glucosamine and is sodium-free. The sulfate form, on the other hand is only 80% pure glucosamine as it contains about 20% sodium (needed as a preservative). This means you would need more of the sulfate form than the hydrochloride form to provide the same amount of glucosamine, the active ingredient.

There are glucosamine products available specifically designed for pets and usually have a yummy flavor making it easier to give to the animal!

Before starting any kind of supplimentation the dog’s vet should be contacted to make sure this is ok for the dog.

Q: How to relief Joint pain due to Uric Acid?
I got sudden pain in joints(doctor says it is due to excess of uric acid). What should i do. In recent report my uric acid level is ok but still there is pain in joint, what could other reasons for it.
What should i do( ant remidies, excercise)
Please help me out. Thanks in Advance.

A: You have what is called the gout— and there is a medicine called colchacine that helps relieve the aching from it. Call your doctor- he can prescribe it and if you are still having a lot of pain, he should recheck the uric acid level and if it is still negative, you may need to see a Rheumatologist- which is a doctor that specializes in joint pain. Good luck to you

Q: what is a new form of relief from joint pain?
i heard of a form of relief from joint pain that marathon runners and such, use to help them out. i am not sure if it is a pill, powder or liquid form and it has just came out within the past couple months. it starts with a G.

A: There’s a new prescription gel called Voltaren gel.

Q: Products for Joint Pain Relief?
Is there a good joint pain relief product that has glucosamine and chondroitin that is NOT derived from shellfish? ( I am allergic to shellfish). I need something that has these ingredients, as well as anything that would ease arthritis pain in addition to rebuilding joint cartilage. I don’t like to take prescription medication, so I would prefer natural joint products.

A: You may want to try out Synotrex, I have a shellfish allergy too and my uncle recommended it, it has a bunch of other ingredients (MSM, Ginger root, sam-E, willow bark) that help out with pain and sensitivity, you can get it online or at a health food store. I’ve been using it for about 4 months and its really helped out with my joint pain.

Q: Is there any relief to joint pain during chemotherapy?
I am tired of taking pain killers – I hate how they make me feel.
My oncologist has no other suggestions for me and I am very frustrated! Does anyone have any tips for me?

A: We used heating pads on our 15 year son when his joints hurt. He also did “mini” work outs on his arms and legs to keep them moving. He too hated all the meds (and still hates any kind of pill) but they do help to lessen the pain. See if there is a lighter dose or another medicine that has less side effects. Unfortunately chemo kills the good with the bad and the side effects of it last for a while into remission. You have to keep your self healthy and as fit as possible during treatment and after.

Q: Anyone ever try Instaflex for joint pain relief? If so does it work or is it a scam?

A: My husband and I have been using it for 2 months now and we really like. We have our orders on auto-shipment but I know you can buy it by the bottle on instaflex.com

Q: What is the compond of Glucosamine? How does it help joint and muscle pain relief? Is it vitamin or what?
At my pharmacy there is product herbal based; Natural Support Joint & Muscle Comfort Support. Pharmacist said no known success of this. Suggested Gluscosamine for repair cartlidge; many brands available. Which is best?

A: Glucosamine is an amino acid that is usually taken from shellfish (the slimey lining) its C6H13NO5
It may help to stop or reverse joint degeneration by stimulating the production of hyaluronic acid and proteoglycans which are the essential building blocks for forming and repairing cartilage. Research has been pretty good and unless you are alergic to shellfish or diabetic (its a type to sugar) its usually fine to take.
Boots, Tesco etc should all be about the same quality, they have a reputation to keep up, although as its not a drug its not regulated and products do vary. You can get it on prescription by your GP which should ensure quality (you hope!)
I’m firmly in the ‘give it a go’ camp, 1500 mg a day and give it at least 3 months to help your arthritis

Q: Has anyone used Dr. Frank’s Joint Pain Relief for Dogs & Cats on a cat?
I have an 18yo cat who is starting to have problems with his hips. He can still jump up on furniture with no problem, but he’s struggling a little to get up from lying down, he can’t maintain balance to scratch his ears & he’s a little wobbly when he starts out walking. My mom saw an infomercial for Dr. Frank’s Joint Pain Relief for Dogs & Cats & forwarded me the website. Of course the website sings its praises. I did some research with mixed reviews, but mainly all for dogs. Has any one had any experience using this product on a cat? Or do you have any recommendations on what I could use for him? Thanks!

A: I would ask a vet whether they recommend this as a safe product just to be safe. Especially as your cat is a senior cat.

Q: Help! Joint pain relief for my dog?
I am looking for any help on relieving my 9 year old male Rottweiler’s joint pain in his knees. He has had surgery on both and seems to have arthritis. I am considering using Hill’s J/D recommended by my vet, but am not sure of its quality. I try glucosamine & MSN pills but he rarely gets them down.

Does anyone have experience with J/D or have any other solutions to relieve the poor boy’s pain?

Caesar says thanks!!!!!

A: Hills is not a quality food, it is full of cheap fillers (do your homework on food quality). Most vets recommend it cause they get a kick back to do so. Go to a health food or nutrition store and get “Joint Solution” the brand is Peak Nutrition. One in the morning, two at night…on an empty stomach. Dip the caplets in a little peanut butter to get him to eat them. This is what my holistic vet recommends as opposed to things like Rimadyl, that can be very hard on your dog : )

As for food, check into Canidae, Royal Canin or Flint River Ranch…all super premium foods that have a Lot of the things (like vitamins and omega 3’s) that will also help your dog.

Q: I am suffering from blood pressure can I use ginseng to boost my sexual pleasure and relief from joint pain ?
i am male 55 suffering from blood pressure and mild diabetic ,suffered joint pains , Stacia ,Pre mature ejaculation can i use ginseng

A: No, you should not take it. The warning on the bottle says “Consult your healthcare provider before use if you are taking prescription medication or if you have a medical condition, especially high blood pressure.”

You’ll want to stay away from it at least until you get your blood pressure down. Good luck!

Q: Hip Joint Pain Relief *Hurry Please*?
Besides pain injections is there anything at home we could do for pain that hurts right at the femoral head? IS there anyways i can pop it (like you do for your spine/fingers) for some relief?

A: If a hip is giving you trouble which can feel like the bone being pulled into the hip socket, then you are probably having trouble with the tendon having shortened up on the hip, as tendons will do that from time to time. This tendon goes into the pelvic region and attaches there. Here is how to releaase the tendon:
Pelvic tendon
With only shorts on lay on a bed and pull your legs up and bend them at the knee so your feet are flat on the bed. Take your hand and run it down the crease between your thigh and body. When you reach the area of your pelvis you will feel a bump in that crease. That is the tendon to work on. Take it between your fingers and thumb and press and hold a good amount of pressure on it. Then relax, take a deep breath and exhale and don’t tense up any part of your body. After 30 seconds slowly lower your leg outward until it has gone as far as it will. Then release the pressure but rest your leg there for one minute longer. As a side note, if you cannot get a grip on the tendon, press on it near the pelvis with as much pressure as you can. Don’t let it slip out from under that pressure. Then continue with the rest of the exercise.
Be in something that allows you to get to the skin so you can easily find the tendon.

A: I know that tart cherry concentrate relieves gout, arthritic, joint and muscle pain. Several clinical studies have been done in support of this claim.
1 oz. serving of tart cherry concentrate provides recommended daily dose of antioxidants equal to 3700 ORAC Units. It is also a natural source of melatonin and anthocyanins.

Q: Thum joint pain relief?
So yesterday I was wrestling whit my little brother but then once he jumped right on my hand, I got alot of pressure on where my thum and my hand joins together, ahh the pain!
Can someone help me please for pain relief?
I beg of you! It hurts like crazy!

A: See your health care provider as soon as possible. The doctor will examine your hands and the finger motions. Sometimes an X-ray is taken but usually not more often than every two years. Anti-inflammatory medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen can help, but doses should usually be low to moderate. Numbness or tingling may indicate a problem with nerves or circulation. A call to the doctor will help you make a decision about what to do.
The key to management of wrist (hand) pain is splinting. The strategy is to rest the joint in the position of best function. Wrist (hand) splints made of plastic or aluminum are available at hospital supply stores and many drug stores.
I hope this helps you. And good luck.

Q: whats the best joint pain relief meds on the market?

A: Hey billsfan,

I discovered something a couple months back that I really think will help you.

I busted my back a few years ago, and everything changed after that.

But I found something that got rid of the pain.

It is called AIO and it is completely natural. One of it’s main attributes is that it is an anti-inflammatory, along with many other amazing things.

Q: Joint pain relief?
I have suffered from knee pain (right is worse than the left) for as long as I can rmember, but more recently I’ve started experiencing almost debillitating elbow pain (both elbows equally) which seems to be worse when I wake up from resting. I don’t have health insurance at this time & therefore can not afford to see a doctor. I started taking glucosamine/chondroitin tablets about a month ago (claims to be effective in 7 days) & mild exercise, but I haven’t noticed any difference. Any suggestions? I’m only 32!!

A: Glucosamine and chondroitin are a great start. Also, a mild pain reliever is helpful. However, the length of severity of your symptoms call for you to see a physician as it sounds like something more serious is going on. If you don’t have health insurance, go to a clinic or the ER.

Good luck.

Q: What kind of doctor should I see for hip joint pain?
For at least a year now, I have been getting this nagging, fatigue, burning feeling from my left hip joint. Sometimes for comfort and temporary relief, I try to stretch it out and pop it. But the pain comes after standing for a long time. I’m not an athelete, but I jog on a treadmill on occassions.

A: Orthopedic doctor or nowadays you can find them listed under sports medicine specialists.

Q: What Does It Mean: Extream Hip Joint Pain Due To Sitting Criss-Cross?
What does it mean when I can lolonger sit criss-cross due to extream hip joint pain after only a few moments?

Note: This also effects many other activities I do as well.
And this might also be because my back has been out of alignment for the past 6 months, and within the four have my hips experienced such pain.

A: sometimes crossing your legs can cause your hips to dislocate and cause pain. Have you seen a doctor. have you had a recent injury. Do you have arthritis? Seek an exam from a doctor and maybe get some PT. When your back in out of alignment it can cause more stress and discomfort on other joints and muscles in your body. Go for a physical and avoid crossing your legs when sitting till you get to root of problem

Q: Any other preggos out there have terrible hip joint pain?
Not ligament pain… I mean your actual hip joints. Mine hurt SO bad sometimes. Especially when I sleep on one side for too long. Any suggestions how to ease that pain?

A: Gosh yes! It drives me crazy. I have a lot of ligament pain too though. My doctor told me to make sure to alternate which side you sleep on regularly, and not to stay sitting or in one position for too long. Also warm baths and massages might help! Good luck!

Q: How effective is walking backwards for people with hip joint pain?
My mother has been diagnosed with osteoarthritis of the knee, and possibly hip. I have heard that walking backwards can help train someone’s balance, as well as train your quadriceps (which could possibly help improve her situation).

Can someone please explain the how walking backwards help balance/quadriceps?

And even better, can anyone share an experience you had with walking backwards that helped seems to help lessen pain in the knee/hip? Or is there any other treatment you recommend for my mother’s situation?

Thanks you very much in advance

A: Two professors at the University of Oregon, Barry Bates and Janet Dufek, have studied the effects and benefits of backward walking and running on individuals since the 1980’s. While forward and backward locomotion differs significantly, some of the benefits of occasional backward travel in training include:

Who might benefit?…
Suffers from muscle strains of the hip, groin, hamstrings or lower back

If I dare I will walk backwards round the park with the dog tomorrow. If nobody takes me away I will report back (wards!!)

It isn’t as easy as it sounds, I felt rather hesitant. Easier walking uphill than on the flat.
I am no orthopod and do not have trouble with back or knees. It does feel different though. I felt a bit of a twit!! Probably looked it too.

Q: What might cause my hip joint pain and how to improve it?
I’m 34 and for the last year my hip joints have been sore after exercising. It’s been getting worse in the last month. I have weighed about 1 stone more than I used to during this last year but have been keeping up my regular level of exercise, which includes aerobics and disco-dancing on weekends, which involves a lot of jumping around.

Are my hips worn out?
What can I do to improve their condition?
Any supplements I can take?
Do I need to stop dancing so much/energetically?

A: There is a certain type of arthritis that starts in the hip joints (I don’t remember the name) that could be a possibility,A rheumatoid specialist could diagnois that, they would have various arthritis medications, they could prescribe. It is not really normal for your hip joints to hurt at such a young age, that you would think arthritis,or gout or other reasons than just wear and tear.
In addition to that, increasing blood flow, fluid, and nutrtion flow to the joints would help (more water, less alcohol/coffee, cutting back on fatty foods and alcohol for gout, perhaps adding omega-3 oils, to help inflammation,glucosamine/chondroitin to help joint linings, calcium, magnesium, Vit-C, Vit-D for bone.
Some people have shallow hip joints, and stretchy tendons, so there can be pain from them slipping out of alignment slightly and wearing on the joints and nerves unnatuarally, there is Sciatica from a pinched stretched nerve, your treatment would depend upon what underlying reason the pain is coming from, that only a doctor, tests, x-rays, etc could find out.

Q: joint pain in hip. Feeling like dislocation is about to happen when I move certain ways?
I can remember these pains starting from my early teens.
I don’t think it’s due to my use of the joints because the problem is the same as my activity level changes.

Every now and then, (especially when i’m sitting on the floor or a bed) when I move my leg I feel like my joint is about to pop out (pain is usually on the inside of hip)
There is a sudden pain and it’s very intense (i usually shout out loud and stop moving)
I’m wondering if it’s the normal feeling that people get just before a joint cracks? When I get those feelings in my fingers I can’t stand it and won’t let the joint crack because I find it painful (and gross)

This is pretty different but I wonder if i’m over-reacting to this hip joint pain or if there is some condition which would make the bones slide out of place? I’m also wondering if I continued moving would something bad happen? It feels incredibly sore, I don’t think I could continue moving when it happened. It really does feel like it’s about to disloc

A: It sure ain’t supposed to feel like that! Visit the orthopedic guy. He will probably be able to advise you with no more than a simple x-ray.

Q: Why my Hip joint pain when I do Chinese split on chairs?
I’m doing spilts after 1 year.

A: It could be you’ve over stretched your tendons and ligaments some time in the past which haven’t healed yet. An injury where your joint is rubbing and damages/scratches the socket could cause problems if not allowed proper time to heal.

As a student of Tradition Chinese Medicine I know the Kidneys govern bone a marrow. It could account as a symptoms of weak kidneys.

Go to a Chiropractor (NOT a medical doctor) and see what he or she says could be the problem. You could have just over worked the joint.

Q: Recommended Vitamin For Hip Joint Pain?
I am nineteen years old and have been having slight hip joint pain for the past few months. I was diagnosed with bursitis in my left hip when the pain first started, which did get better, but there is still a slight discomfort, this time in both hips.
Any recommended exercises or vitamins will help.
Also, let me know if you need more information, I’m not sure what to tell.

A: Best suppliment hands down would be glucosamine. Take one in the morning and one at night. And get up five minutes early in the morning and just do some simple stretches. These two steps will go along way.

Q: Extreme hip joint pain at 27 weeks?
I get shooting pains in my left hip joint when I sit in a position too long or stand in one place too long. It comes in waves and disrupts my sleep. Is this normal or what. I will ask my doc, I am just looking for a little personal experience.

A: im 28 weeks. ive never had hip pains but lower back kills!!!! and anytime i sneeze i get unbearable stabbing pain in my abdoman that lasts for just a few seconds.

heating pad always helps me.

Q: Hip joint pain after squatting yesterday?
im really skinny and i squatted 85 pounds couple times.. i just started working out.. i never really done any exercise before.. and now i have a pain inside of my hip joint where leg connects to the hip .. its kind of painful to talk
and if i just squat with no weights right now it hurts..
can i continue working out? what could be wrong

A: Quit working out until the pain is gone.

You probably pinched a nerve in your
back, but it could be a pulled muscle.
85 pounds is not a lot of weight to lift
while squatting. Have someone spot you
when lifting, preferably a trainer. Bad
form is the leading cause of weightlifting
injury, and you probably favored one side
while lifting. It is common, and easily
remedied.

Rest flat on your back, with pillows
under your knees to relieve stress omn
your lower back. An icepack might
help, as could an anti inflammatory,
like advil. Do not overdo the advils.
If you could sleep in the position I
described, without a pillow under your head,
it would speed recovery.

Make sure you take a daily multivitamin
with minerals, preferably formulated
for your gender and age. Drink plenty
of wayer and good sleep.

If the back pain persists, or gets worse,
make a Dr appointment.

Good Luck.

Q: Does anyone know a good remedy for hip and knee joint pain?
Arthritis and such runs in the family, my grandmother doesn’t even have her real hips anymore. The pains have been getting worse and it’s definitely not from a lack of movement. Does anyone know of joint meds or even doctors? Homeopathic medicine, just anything. I’m in Northern NJ.

A: Grandma has Osteoarthritis, wear and tear, old age.
However you may want to see a Podiatrist. reason how you feet hit the ground may be wrong, especially as you are active and if that is wrong, it will upset the ankles, then the knees, then the hips and eventually the spine. So get to see a Podiatrist, ask them to analyze your gait, how you walk, run and then see if you are rolling your feet. Best of Luck

Q: suggestions for hip joint pain?
When I drive long distance I start to feel pain in the hip joint of the right leg. I think it’s from holding my foot tensely on the gas pedal. What could help this? Accupuncture? Do I have to see a doctor? I hope not because I don’t have insurance. I need suggestions because I’ll be driving a thousand miles on a 4 day road trip next month. Thanks for any advice!

A: You have a tendon that attaches your thigh to your hip and when that becomes tight, as tendons will do, it will pull your thigh into your hip and create the pain you are having. The unusual position is triggering it but the real problem is is that the tendon isn’t fully relaxed to start with so that is why it doesn’t need much of a trigger to finish the job off. Here is how you can release that tendon in your crotch area, just be sure to do this in shorts, it makes it easier to find the tendon:

Q: Hip Joint Pain…?
I’ve had hip pain for a long time (about 7 1/2 months) It’s a kind’ve sharp sometimes throbbing pain in my left hip joint. I’ve been to the doctor, and had x-rays, can’t see anything in the x-rays. It’s just always there, very painful. WHAT COULD IT BE???

A: If you have hip pain, some common causes include:
Arthritis
Arthritis is among the most frequent causes of hip pain, and there are many treatments available. If conservative treatments fail, hip replacement surgery is an option.

Trochanteric Bursitis
Trochanteric bursitis is an extremely common problem that causes inflammation of the bursa over the outside of the hip joint.

Tendonitis
Tendonitis can occur in any of the tendons that surround the hip joint. The most frequently encountered tendonitis around the hip is iliotibial band (IT band) tendonitis.

Osteonecrosis
Osteonecrosis is a condition that occurs when blood flow to an area of bone is restricted. If an inadequate amount of blood flow reaches the bone, the cells will die and the bone may collapse. One of the most common places for osteonecrosis to occur is in the hip joint.

Lumbar Pain – Referred Symptoms
Many back and spine problems can cause symptoms around the buttocks and hip. The most common problems that refer pain to the hip region are herniated discs and sciatica.

Snapping Hip Syndrome
Snapping hip syndrome is a word used to describe three distinct hip problems. The first is when the IT band snaps over the outside of the thigh. The second occurs when the deep hip flexor snaps over the front of the hip joint. Finally, tears of the cartilage, or labrum, around the hip socket can cause a snapping sensation.

Muscle Strains
Strains of the muscles around the hip and pelvis can cause pain and spasm. The most common strains are groin pulls and hamstring strains.

Hip Fracture
Hip fractures are most common in elderly patients with osteoporosis. Treatment of broken hips requires surgery to either replace the broken portion or repair it with a metal plate and screws.

Q: Mirena and hip joint pain?
I had the Mirena IUD inserted in January,2009 and along with common side effects (headaches, weight gain, constant discharge, sore breasts) within the past month I have been experiencing joint pain in my hips that I CAN’T STAND any longer. I was told some women have a very low tolerance to the hormone (apparently that’s me) while others have no problems with it at all. I also want to mention when I was on the pill I experienced much of the same symptoms, except for the hip pain. I am 45 years old and I literally feel like an 80 year old woman most mornings and can’t lift anything heavy without crying out in pain. It gets better during the day, but if I sit on anything other than a hard chair, I can’t stand up without feeling like my hip is popping out of joint. It is NOT arthritis and it is NOT in my head, so don’t bother responding if this is what you are going to say – again – this did not start until about 6 months after Mirena was inserted and started suddenly with no injuries or anything being done out of the ordinary. I went to the doctor about it and was told all is NORMAL – that she had no answer for me. Of course I was also informed that this isn’t a normal side effect of Mirena, yet there are literally hundreds of posts on the net from other women experiencing the same issue. My question is for Mirena users – have you experienced joint pain (particularly in the hip) that did NOT appear until after the Mirena was placed, and if so did anything help other than having the Mirena removed? I am “this close” to having it removed and want some honest feedback. Thanks in advance!
Cecili – thanks for your response! The doctor said she couldn’t find anything abnormal in relation to my joint pain, that’s why I am thinking it’s the hormones in the Mirena. Thinking back it does remind me of when I was pregnant in the last days and everything ached due to the weight of the baby – almost like my hips are preparing for a birth that isn’t coming! It has got to be the pregnancy-hormone (whether real or synthetic) that is causing these symptoms. I really want to hear from more people who have these problems – I’m really upset this wasn’t listed on the literature, yet I see so many women complaining of it!
I bit the bullet and had it removed today – I decided the benefits were not outweighing the side effects and it just wasn’t worth the pain I am experiencing just to have lighter periods.

A: You answered one of my questions:)

I, too, have experienced joint pain. Mostly from my pregnancy which was tendinitis, but more recently, knees, elbows and wrists. I visited my doctor and he gave me a cortisone injection which did work. I still have joint pain now and again, but induced from exercise.
There are several symptoms I have, presumably from the mirena, but nothing I can’t live with. Your pain sounds like mine which was diagnosed as bursitis which is an inflammation of the bursa sac that lubricated the joints. I have suffered from this since I was a teenager. I guess your best bet is to visit your doctor.

BTW, thanks for you answer:)

A: A combination of blurred vision and thrush are classic symptoms of diabetes, along with thirst and excessive peeing. I cannot say regarding the other pains you mention but I don’t believe they are generally symptomatic of diabetes. Your very best next move is to delay no longer but go see your doctor asap and have yourself checked out. If you do have symptoms of any diseases/illnesses, then the sooner you get a diagnosis the sooner you can begin treatment.

Q: What tests does a rheumatologist do on anyone with raynauds & muscle & joint pain?
got a 1st appointment with a rheumatologist in a few weeks following a referral from my GP, I have raynauds in both hands and a few other symptoms, muscle & joint aches all over daily, etc…RF & ANA blood tests were normal, what other tests can I expect from the rheumatologist,

A: Wondere, of course they always draw blood work and he’ll be looking at your white blood cell which is always elevated when inflammationn is involved, which it would be in the case of RA,he/she will probbally check out your sed rate and ana antibodies maybe indicating some form of lupus or auto-immune diseases, you could have fibromylgia , you could have any of the above plus more, go to the medical westirt ( web md ) and see if your symptoms fit with lupus or just look at auto-immune and it will have loads of info on just about any disease. Hope this helps. Rita V

A: Hot bath, Raljex, Gentle Stretching.

Q: Is severe muscle/joint pain permanent if caused by Fosamax?
Hip/muscle & joint pain began after 2 months on 70 mg(month) of Fosamax & has gotten progressively worse after a total of 6 months on the drug — stopped prescription this week.

A: time to talk to the doctor who prescribed it to you about this.

http://www.yourlawyer.com/topics/overview/fosamax

seems these things you are suffering from are side effects from this medication.

Q: is it muscle or joint pain in my right wrist?

A: Could be carpal tunnel syndrome.

Q: Bad headache, stomach pain, extreme fatigue, muscle/ joint pain and dizziness/nausea?
Since March of this year I have been have been experiencing pain in the left side of my stomach, headaches, fatigue, muscle and joint pain and dizziness and nausea. I have been to doctor after doctor and they have been no help as of yet. I’ve even been to Johns Hopkins with no luck. If you have any possible idea what it could be I would REALLY appreciate it! Thanks!(:

A: We have Top quality Health and fitness products that will meet your specific need for total balanced nutrition because ours are potency guaranteed! By pharmaceutical standards Please contact us and we will send you this information

Q: Have any one use the spray for joint & muscle pain; does it work?
I just want to know if it work’s before i waste my money; the product simply says to spray in the mouth and watch your pain dissolve; sounds to good to believe.

A: I am using Bio Freeze it is a roll on, and there is a jell as well. It workks fine, and lasts for a long time.

Q: How do you know when to apply heat or ice down an injury, muscle / joint pain etc.?

A: If its muscle pain heat should be applied and if it is joint pain you dont really need anythin except maybe pain killers. Ice should be applied to stop an injury swelling and less inflamed.

Q: What causes joint and muscle pain in the legs?
I’ve had severe pain in the ankles, knees and hips – and muscle pain in the upper leg since May.

Vitamin D levels are okay.
Lupus tests negative
Thyroid levels normal
but parvo in February

Prescription NSAIDS bring no relief – need a referral to a specialist, but any ideas what this might be other than fibromyalgia?
I like to do a lot of research BEFORE seeing a doctor – you get all of 5 minutes of their time, so I’d like to know what’s going on so I can ask any important questions or give any helpful information.

A: Your leg pain may be claudication. Claudication is most often a symptom of peripheral arterial disease, a potentially serious but treatable circulation problem. Walking may actually become a key component of your treatment program — and a way to return to an active lifestyle.

In peripheral arterial disease, the arteries that supply blood to your limbs are damaged. This damage is often the result of atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis can develop in any of your arteries, especially those in your heart. When atherosclerosis affects your arms and legs, it’s called peripheral arterial disease.

Atherosclerosis makes arteries hard and narrow. That’s because the arteries get clogged with clumps of fat, cholesterol and other material, called atherosclerotic plaques. These plaques can make arteries so narrow that less blood can flow through them.

One of the classic symptoms of peripheral arterial disease is pain in the muscles of the legs, especially the calves. This pain is called claudication, also known as intermittent claudication. Claudication can also occur in the arteries of your arms. Claudication is sometimes considered a disease, but technically, it’s a symptom of a disease.

It’s very possible that its Fibromyalgia as well. Here is a brief list of common symptoms of this disease:

Chronic pain throughout the body
Burning, numbness and tingling
Tenderness when pressure is placed on or around the neck, elbows, hips, thighs and knees.
Sleep disorders
Chronic fatigue or exhaustion
Depression
Anxiety
Facial Pain
Jaw Pain (TMJ)
Memory Loss
Irritable Bowel
Tension or Migraine Headaches
High sensitivity to foods and medications (allergic type reaction).
Minimal tolerance to heat and cold
High sensitivity to bright lights and sounds
Hair Loss

Because symptoms develop gradually, this disease is often misdiagnosed. It is often diagnosed as a repetitive strain injury; sleep disorder condition, irritable bowel syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis or any other type of medical problem. Based on the American College of Rheumatology a person is diagnosed with Fibromylagia when he or she suffers pain throughout the body for at least three months and has 11 out of 18 tender points present.

I hope this helps.

Q: What could cause joint pain and also muscle pain?
This summer my mom started feeling pain in her right elbow. Later her whole arm would hurt so the doctor said it was probably Tendinitis so she gave her a few exercises to do. Now her joints in her wrist, knees, ankles and toes sometimes hurt. Doctors still don’t know what it could be. Any ideas??

A: Sounds like some type of Arthritis, like Rheumatoid Arthritis or something like that. I would tell you rmom to go back ot her doc and mention how it has spread to other joints and all that. They may want to do some blood work to make sure nothing else is wrong.

Q: What would cause sudden cramps, diarrhea, joint pain, muscle aches and sinus pressure?
Has been happening on and off for the past 3wks to my husband. He would be fine one minute and the next would have all of these symptoms. What could this be? He has a history of testicular cancer and lymphoma.
It has been going to my husband for 5wks and he has lost 23lbs. His mother was just diagnosed with Crohns disease. Could it be that or related to that?

A: wow, he has all that on and off for 3 weeks.

With his history, he obviously has a weakened immune system, so what has his dr say is causing this ?
or did you really think that asking on here was better than taking him to his dr ?

Q: Hey is it true if you have problems with one of your organs you will have joint or muscle pain?
For example if this person has liver problems and it makes their spleen a little inflammation and they are having very bad pain on their left subscapular, you know on the left shoulder blade. Can this person have muscle pain because of liver problems, is it really possible? And this person never injured their subscapular. Please help.

A: It is possible for a pain in an organ to be felt elsewhere in the body. This is called “referred pain.”

Liver problems do not often cause pain, nor do they cause spleen irritation, normally. Many diseases cause both the liver and the spleen to increase in size.

Q: When stretching for splits, I get a pain in my hip joint. How can i stop it?
When stretching for stradle splits I get a pain in my hip joint which stops me carrying on with the stretch. As soon as I stop it goes away. How can I stop it WITHOUT going to a doctor or physiotherapist? Are there any stretches or ways to pop it. It feels like when joints pop but this doesn’t? It’s stoping me getting anywhere with splits so help would be apppriciated.

A: Try sitting with your legs spread apart and then slowly leaning your head to the floor. Same type of split but less stress on joint. Some times you may have to work past the pain. As long as it’s not real bad.

Q: Hip joint pain after squatting yesterday?
im really skinny and i squatted 85 pounds couple times.. i just started working out.. i never really done any exercise before.. and now i have a pain inside of my hip joint where leg connects to the hip .. its kind of painful to talk
and if i just squat with no weights right now it hurts..
can i continue working out? what could be wrong

A: Quit working out until the pain is gone.

You probably pinched a nerve in your
back, but it could be a pulled muscle.
85 pounds is not a lot of weight to lift
while squatting. Have someone spot you
when lifting, preferably a trainer. Bad
form is the leading cause of weightlifting
injury, and you probably favored one side
while lifting. It is common, and easily
remedied.

Rest flat on your back, with pillows
under your knees to relieve stress omn
your lower back. An icepack might
help, as could an anti inflammatory,
like advil. Do not overdo the advils.
If you could sleep in the position I
described, without a pillow under your head,
it would speed recovery.

Make sure you take a daily multivitamin
with minerals, preferably formulated
for your gender and age. Drink plenty
of wayer and good sleep.

If the back pain persists, or gets worse,
make a Dr appointment.

Good Luck.

Q: Need help with my joint/hip pain?
I’m 24 years old and I’ve been experiencing joint pain for 10 years now, with all of my doctors telling me either I’m getting growing pains, or thinking I’m trying to get medication. I have VERY loud popping in both hips and knees, which has been noted by a doctor. I have a hard time sitting in place for more than an hour, as my joints start to ache. This has gotten a little better recently, but hasn’t completely gone away. I’ve also had many x-rays that do not show any wear on my bones, or signs of arthritis (though my aunt does have rheumatoid arthritis).

I went to physical therapy, like he suggested, to no avail. I also took several medications for the pain, all of which I had to stop taking because of stomach discomfort (Mobic, Celebrex, etc). I’m pretty active, and used to run track in my high school years. I quit that after the pain worsened, and stick to low impact exercise now.

Does anyone know what exactly this could be, or has experienced anything like this?

A: Trouble sitting could indicate bursitis of the hips.It could indicate problems with the lumbar spine.Knees can be taped with 2 inch cover roll stretch and leukotape to keep the muscle positioned correctly.Very comfortable.Spine, hips, knees–they can affect each other. Try taking pepcid or zantac along with your meds.Finding a good chiropractor may be helpful.Maybe stick to walking and stretching for now.

Good luck!

Q: whats the best joint pain relief meds on the market?
my knees need some help

Q: What is the reason for my knee joint pain?
I have done an MRI, X-Ray and others, but still there is no cause as to why i have got this pain. I have been taking a tablet called Advil and have been putting a patch that numbs the area of my knee. These are only temporary relieves. please advise on my problem and if there are any solutions. Thanks

A: I was in the same boat as you. I hurt my knee from running and I went and had an X-ray done and heaps of other tests and they told me my knee was fine. I found out that I was losing muscle mass from overcompensating. My knee didn’t have the proper muscle support to keep my knee cap (patella) in its track, so it would rub causing this unreal pain in my knee.

I went to a Physical Therapist because I was tired of being told that there was nothing wrong. They gave me some very good stretches and exercises to help strengthen the muscles that support the knee.

For more information on stretches that can help manage your knee(patella) pain, visit www.TheStretchingInstitute.com!

Q: Is there any feasible solution to the problems except surgery of Knee joint pain.Any mechanical support system?
My father is having severe pain in his knees, particularly when he walks. Every body says there is no relief without knee replacement surgery. Is there any other alternative to surgery? Whether there are any supportive devices to help walk easily and provide relief from pain. I have also seen some mechanical devices, which supports the knees at thighs and below the knees, whether these are really effective or only marketing gimmicks?– Naren

A: he has to see a rheumatologist to get a medical assessment first. maybe all he needs is to lose weight or take mineral supplements.

Q: How to heal knee joint pain quickly?
Last week I was running as usual and all of sudden my knee started to hurt so I stopped running. I can feel the pain mostly in the back of my knee, but when I do start to walk to my normal pace, my knee hurts even more, so much I can barely walk. Now i’m just walking slowly but with difficulty. I am taking inlflamatory pills, i just started taking them yesterday, but if you know any other way to heal faster, which excersise i can do now and later, and will I be able to run again??

A: Chiropractic care may be beneficial to help you continue your training program. Chiropractic care is beneficial for treating common running injuries including plantar fasciitis, TFL injuries, knee pain, shin splints, hip pain, and back pain. Plus it is a natural approach to health care and is non-invasive. Try finding a reputable chiropractor in your area to discuss how they can help you with your specific injury.

Q: I have Knee joint pain at such a young age?
I’m 14 years old, and whenever I do squats,or any other anything else that involves the joints, it starts hurting. What can I do now about, is there some natural remedies for this?
P.S. I used to dance, and I had to fall to my knees as part of the dance. Could this be the reason?

A: You need to talk to your parents and get them to take you to an orthopedic surgeon. Long story short when I was 13 I started to have knee pain in my knees and everyone blew it off to growing pains. Well by 16 I finally convinced my parents that there was more going on and there was I had my first surgery not that long after I was seen. now fastforward a few years I am now 37 have severe arthritis in both my knees. I have had a total of 7 surgeries on these knees and I am still waking up every night with lots of pain. Just go get it checked out it might turn out to be nothing but if it is something better to get it treated soon.

Q: What should you do if you have knee joint pain after running?

A: running is hard on knees and ankles. in most cases it is caused by inflamation. in general you have two options, you can stop running, rest for a time to allow it to clear and try starting again. more than likely the pain will return. if you insist on running like i am trying to do, you will have to cope with the pain.

things that will help you manage this are a good stretching regime. stretching helps keep things loose and moving. ice your joints often to help keep inflamation down, and take asprin or your perfered antiinflamitory.

if you are just beginning, remember the human body is a fantastic machine. if you can get through the soreness your body will become stronger and addapt, as long as it isnt a physical injury that will worsen. tendonitis can be managed, but it is going to be sore, and you are going to have to manage it or chose a lower impact activity.

Q: What is the cheapest and easiest treatment of knee joint pain?

A: Ice it down allot and warm it up by bending and stretching before any type of exercises or prolong moving around. Good Luck.

Q: What is the best treatment or cure for arthritic knee pain without surgery? Is SUPARTZ knee joint liquid useful?
what is the best cure or treatment for knee pain, apart from surgery? i heard of Supartz- a knee joint liquid to inject, but don’t know if it is effective, good, without side effects. can it be used on a diabetic patient? are there any other ways? this is for a diabetic with chronic knee pain – she cannot walk up steep paths, cannot climb stairs, and has severe pain. this is India, and doctors so far didn’t do much.please help! thank you

A: There are lots of things you can do to relieve joint pain naturally, without having surgery. I recently did some research and found some very interesting information. Please see an article I wrote on the subject.
I hope you find something that works and that she feels better soon!

How to Get Joint Pain Relief

Q: WD40 is reported by thousands to help relieve knee joint pain – typed WD40 & Knee Joints into Search?
Typed “WD40 and Knee Joints” into my Yahoo search engine and saw several stories there where many had aquired a great deal of relief by spraying WD40 on sore and stiff knees one to four times over a weelk to two weeks with great results

A: Per the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet): Prolonged or repeated contact may produce mild iritation and defatting with possible dermatitis.
Per WD40’s web site: Does not contain any know Caner Causing Agents.
Per About.Com: There has never been any scientific research to prove this theory. Possible reasons for the confusion: Massage Action, Coolness of the Spray or a Placebo Effect.
MY OPINION: If you have not suffered any exposure issues (dermatitis or dry skin) then that is not an issue as it is dependant on the user and frequency of use. Their is no known Cancer Causing Ingrediants (yet their is in everything else from the food we eat to the gasses released by material used in our car interiors). Thus I don’t not see any immediate health risks if used in moderation.
My father stumpled across this remedy backwards for his arthritis. He noticed that after using to clean something the swelling and disfigurment of his hands subsided and so did the pain. He isolated the cause of the relief to WD40. He than did studies on his own: application via towels, direct spray, indirect spray, and even rubbing with and without the WD40. His Hypothosis was it worked. Whether it truly worked is irrelevant as he found more relief from the WD40 than nearly any other medicine or technique. The only medicine that provided better relief had a side effect that would damage his liver (that was proven in scientific studies).
Remember as you provide your own review question the sources motives. EVERY source opposing the use of WD40 the I found has financial ties, directly and indirectly, to the companies providing treatments and medications for Arthritis.
Having a family history of Arthritis and understanding its crippling pain first hand I respect any treatment that can provide my loved ones some relief thus allowing them to enjoy life.

Q: Serious help needed for my knee pain (joint pain)?
Yeah,

I heard, 1. when you have knee joint pain, you are not allowed to have acidic stuff like lemon, orange etc? is this true??

2. Secondly, coz im a soccerplayer, before playing soccer, should i WARM UP first? maybe i thought if i warm up first, then then will prepare my knees therefore not as much pain? coz quite often i play without warming up, and my fitness is not the problem, its my knees, so maybe i have to warm up first?

3. Any foods/nutrition to take/avoid for my knee?

Thanks thanks

A: Try taking a glucosamine sulphate formula. I know lots of people that have improved joint function after taking this supplement. It will take a few weeks to see improvement. Eat non-acidic fresh fruit. Eat fresh pineapple which contains bromelain, an enzyme which will help to reduce inflammation. You can get bromelain in pill form also. Hope this helps.

Q: I Have Knee Joint Pain On My Right Knee Cap. Help ?
I have knee joint pain constantly everyday. Well 4 or 5 times a day. I’ve had this pain for about half a year now. sometimes It feels like there are needle stabbing into my knee cap and sometimes it only aches.. And I’m pretty positive it’s not arthritis because i am only 14. And usually when i bend down to knee. my knee cap pops. so i dont know if that has anything to do with this weird pain. and no i haven’t gone to the doctor yet because i want to try to self solve it myself before i go. so if anyone can give me their opinions or know what is causing this pain it’ll be greatly appreciated. :) have a good day !

A: I can feel, for you the pain that you are going through . But I must say that trying to solve the problem here and by yourself and guessing what it might be is fruitless . In the meantime you suffering and in pain for no reason , and may be causing more damage to yourself . Now let me ask you a question , ? ” Is this really intelligent ? ” We all need people in our lives and that include people who specialize in medicine and can prevent further damage to ourself . What am I suppose to say to you for your pain .Please see your physician .Have a real nice day and I hope your pain will go away soon .
