Q: Neck Ache?
ever since this morning ive had this ache in my bottom left back of my neck. Now its seem to spread to the top left of my head to my left shoulder. And the ache on my head stings if i touch it. wtf is up?
A: You slept wrong, try taking a bath towel, folding it in half long ways, then in half width ways, then roll it up. Tonight sleep with it under your neck lying flat on your back for as long as you can stand it. This will seperate your bones for it to realign itself and relax the muscles that have been strained. Also try putting a hot towel on that side of your neck for 15 minutes then an ice pack for 15 minutes, two times each, then end with a warm towel for 15 minutes before you lay down… this will also help relax your muscles in your neck. Please do not try to pop it on your own, if it doesn’t get much better by tomorrow go to the chyropractor

Q: Woke up with severe Back and Neck ache?
I’m 20 years old and I woke up yesterday morning with severe upper-back and neck ache. I can’t even turn my neck around or tilt my neck forwards or backwards. It is more on the right side of my body and it hasn’t got better after 2 days. I slept very comfortably yesterday and with a low pillow so i don’t know why it is not getting any better. Any home remedies or over-counter medicines?
A: You have some pinched muscles in your back and neck more than likely, something a chiropractor doesn’t work on, they do the bones. Because they are pinched they are pulling the vertebrae in your neck together which is making it so you can’t turn your head, the pressure is causing them to lock together. Here is how you can release your back and neck muscles to free them up:
Neck
Invert your hands and put them next to your head placing your thumbs in under your ears and your fingers behind your head. Squeeze together and hold until the muscles release. Then slowly lower your head until your neck is fully extended, release the pressure but hold your head there for another 30 seconds.
Back:
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder and find the muscles next to your spine and press on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but remain there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.
Q: Neck ache that moves to different places?
3 days ago I got neck ache were the top of my neck meets my skull, the next day it moved down and was in teh middle of my neck, i currently have pain on the top of my right shoulder and know were else.
What could be causing this?
A: I had a similar problem and first it was a nerve. I went to PT and they did body massages and said I was very tense and had knots all over. It was very painful to have it done…but very much worth it when it was over. I also had some excercises to do to help.
Now that I am older I have arthritis in the neck and I sometimes go to PT and they do the massages and I do the exercises and it helps.
You won’t know until you get to a doctor and find out. It could be other things…but it sounds like a nerve problem.
It could be stress as that manifests in the neck and back problems too..but if you work and are at a computer etc..you might try stopping every once in awhle and moving your head in a circular pattern and back and forth and from front to back.
Q: I have thumping in my right ear and neck ache?
I woke up today, and my right ear has been thumping on and off all day, and it’s definitely not my heartbeat or pulse I can hear. The back of my neck aches on the right side and at the bottom of the right side of my head right inside at the back. My ear is not red or hot. I have experienced this before, about half a year ago probably, but it went after 10 minutes. What is it?
A: Maybe you have tinnitus or eustachian tube dysfunction. Look it up and have your doctor check it out.
Q: I have a sore throat, neck ache, ear ache and head ache. What am I sick with?
My throat hurt about two weeks ago and stopped but started again a couple days ago along with an earache in my right ear, a headache on the right side of my head around my ear and a neck ache on the top, right side of my neck. I have no pain on my left side whatsoever. Could this possibly be related to allergies? If not, what could it be?
A: I have that too, right now in fact. Mine, I believe, is my sinus clogging (allergies) beginning to abscess a cracked upper molar. If you have any bad teeth up in the sinus area, you may have the same problem.
Q: I got a terrible neck ache from bending over at the computer for a long time?
It’s extremely tight on the back of my neck, and it’s difficult to turn my head, it hurts when I do. I tried massaging it, and it helps for a little while, but it starts hurting again. This has been going on for about two hours, anything I can do to help it? There’s no one around to give me a massage.
thanks UPESKYMO, I’d like to hear her opinion, also that was an optic neurologist, the doc said there are very few in the country
A: Please get off the computer unless its your job, and relax to lay down, take 2 extra strength tylenols or advil. Try putting a warm compress on your neck such as a damp towel put in a microwave for 20 seconds. Lay down for 20 mintues until the medicine kicks in, and dont move your neck it will only get worse.
Edit: Make sure your computer is head level with your eyes if you need to bend over to look down at your computer its not at the appropriate place. When your neck is feeling better every 30 mintues or so take a 2-3 mintue break and move your neck around in a circle and side to side try to stretch it.
Q: Why does my neck/head ache when im trying to get to sleep?
my neck aches – i turn to the other side – it still aches?
A: Does your head hurt when not laying down? Maybe your pillow is too hard or too soft. It may not be supporting your neck enough. It sounds like you are a side sleeper. I am a side sleeper and notice a lot that my head is on the pillow, but my neck is not supported. When laying on your side, pull your pillow up to your shoulder and bunch it up into the open area under your neck. That may help, as it will add more support to the neck area, which may in turn keep your head from hurting. If that doesn’t work, get one of those pillows that is thicker on one end and sleep on it. After years of sleeping with your neck unsupported, you may need a neck/back adjustment from a chiropractor.
Hope that helps.
Q: why does my neck ache when i try to force it down when i stretch my legs.?
is it normal for my neck to ache? when this pain go away as i continue to stretch?
A: neck sores stiff neck its all from whatever yiou were doing yesterday!
Q: Can your neck ache from blowing your nose too hard?
I have a runny nose and i keep blowing it. I blow my nose hard though. Could this be causing my neck and chest pains?
A: Possibly, through tension. I once ripped a tendon at the back of my neck just by being in one position on the phone for an hour. Soon as I moved my head – sudden pain in neck!
Address your runny nose and see if this solves things. If it’s because of a cold – let it run it’s course. If you have allergies there is a steroid nasal spray you can get for this which should stop the runny nose.
If the above advice doesn’t work out – see your doctor.
Q: Could a curved spine be responsible for neck ache?
My first visit to the osteopath revealed (supported by doctor) that I have a really curved spine and whilst feeling around my neck and back he felt things (such as tightness) which warranted 2 more visits. He already started working on my back and said that it wouldn’t feel better today (although it hurts a little more now) but he feels that there is a good chance that in 2 more visits the problem could be solved?
A: It certainly could be the answer. It sounds as if the spinal curve is causing a lot of muscle pain as well. The treatment that you are under going will help loosen up the muscles and may help relieve some of the curve. You may need some other treatment in the long run, such as physical therapy to keep your neck muscles loose. Physical therapy is an ongoing thing, though; it’s a series of exercises designed to improve your physical stamina and strength.
Could some other treatment needs come up in the future- certainly, the curve in you neck could change and your needs could change. But that is later on.
Good luck.
Q: Why does my neck ache when sit ups on gym ball?
Ive done sit ups for 4 days now on gym ball. I am so unfit.
Mostly to tone my stomach.
First few days my stomach ache which it shows it was working, now its more strain on my neck. My stomach dosnt seam to ache now.
Is it because im getting use to the sit ups? Is my neck aching because i sit up too high?
Im not sure if im doing it right.
Thanks.
X
A: Well, I think you have figured out that you are hurting your neck.
Sit ups or crunches are bad for the neck and back. If you do the plank correctly you will be better off and not hurt your neck or back.
Check out Dr. Bookspans info for better ways.
