Q: Stomach Pains?
I got SO sick last Thursday (vomiting, etc). I thought it might have been food poisoning… but there is really no way to be sure.

I was sick all day Friday, felt a little better Saturday (but couldn’t eat), and am gradually starting to feel better, but cannot seem to kick the stomach pains.

I have tried to not eat things that would irritate it (ex: greasy foods), and have taken tums, but it seems like my stomach churns with everything I eat, leaving me with no appetite.

Any suggestions to stop the stomach pains?

A: Hi! I am an Herbalist and a Reiki practitioner, and I I have quite a bit of experience. What it sounds like to me is that you either have an acid stomach or the beginnings of an ulcer. Along with seeing your physician, I recommend Marshmallow root (soothing and absorbing), Licorice root (if no cardiac problems…if so, then Cinnamon) and Ginger (wonderful for nausea). All are very healing to the stomach, and will really help…and no side effects at all, other than the Licorice root which I mentioned. However, Licorice root is specific for ulcers and acidity so if you can use it I highly recommend it.
I am at windstarhealing.com if you have any questions, or feel free to contact me here. Best wishes!

Q: Stomach pains?
Since friday I’ve had stomach pains, my mom has it too.
It’s in my upper stomach, right below my ribcage a bit above my belly button.
How can I get rid of this, since it really bothers me
are there any home remedies?

A: “Stomach pains” may be too vague of a description for us to help you. Your description of the location of the pain doesn’t seem to indicate that it’s in your stomach. This image may help: http://www.rogers.k12.ar.us/users/ehutches/digestivesystemimage.phtml

If you can locate the organ that you think is hurting, you may want to do some searching on the Internet. You can, of course, see a doctor, since both you and your mother are sick. Sometimes February ends up being “National Gastroenteritis Month”.

Q: What is the cause of stomach pains and lower back pains?
Today I started getting stomach cramps and my stomach was growling like i was hungry but I wasn’t, it was an empty feeling. Later in the day, my lower back on both sides started to become a little painful. Also, my ribs have been feeling a bit uncomfortable for the past couple days. Not painful, just discomfort. I recently started birth control and i’m not sure if that’s what’s causing the pain. I also started running a bit in the mornings for 5-10 minutes. Any ideas of what’s causing these pains?

A: It could be anything in a list of 100, including changes in your body due to the new meds. Contact your GYN first to see if they are common complaints for that med. If not, see your Family MD and get a complete physical.

Q: Is it normal to get stomach pains and twinges when 5 weeks pregnant?
I am 5 weeks pregnant and i am experiencing some stomach pains and twinges, nothing too major and they aren’t constant but as this is my first pregnancy i just wanted to get some advice. Is this normal? I am so scared that something is going to go wrong for me, i do not get much good luck and hope n pray that this pregnancy is a healthy one.

A: Yes. Your uterus is stretching and this will cause some mild cramping.

Q: What does it mean when you have stomach pains straight after sex?
I have just had sex, and i have these stomach pains, its not in my lower abdominals like cramps with periods but the actual stomach…. What does this mean?

Q: How do you get rid of very odd and confusing stomach pains?
My friend has these stomach pains which are subject only to her stomach. She says she is sure it’s not constipation and also says when she bends over her waist lines hurt. She cannot use the rest room (take a number 2), and hasn’t vomited. She says it’s a “sharp” pain in her stomach and not the feeling you get when you are going to vomit. What could it be?

A: It could be a few things … from simple gas to appendicitis. Take her temperature. High temp. usually means infection. Try an indigestion medicine. It might help and won’t harm.

Q: What kinds of stomach pains normal during pregnancy?
So I keep having these random stomach pains. they are like a pinching fealing and a mild, but uncomfortable. im not sure how far along i am yet, but pretty early. the pains are in different spots throughout my stomach area, below my ribs and down. I’ve been really gasy though, so could that be it?

A: well i am pregnant and i have been expeirincng these (pinchings) too. but that doesnt for sure mean you are pregnant. but gas is also i sign of pregnancy as well as, sore nipples, spoting, no period, movment in the uterus or sore and swollen feet.

Q: How can I reduce stomach pains or nausea using natural remedies?
I just wanted to know what I could use to alleviate stomach pains besides medicines? I’d rather not drink any dairy products being lactose intolerant. Are their certain teas or anything else that coud help?

A: You could try an enema filled with jello.

It may not help your nausea, but it will give you something to do.

Q: What could be causing me to have stomach pains after i eat?
For the last 2 weeks, i have been having stomach pains after i eat. It starts about 20 minutes after i eat, and feels like a knife stabbing me in the stomach. I also get hot flashes, feel light-headed, and dizzy, like i am going to throw up, so i lay down. It only last for about 1 hour at the most, and then i am perfectly fine like nothing ever happened. This only happens after i eat. But i noticed that if i just eat 1 small bite of food, then i am fine. If i eat a full meal or even a large snack, then i get the pains.

What could be causing this? I know i dont have a flu or anything, because i dont have any of those other symptoms, and this only happens after i eat.

A: heartburn, acid reflux, stomach ulsers maybe. You need to make an appointemt and get seen. find out what is going on, get some meds so you can eat or you could get really sick. In the mean time eat slowly small meals and try to not lay flat when you rest. Sit up a little and that could help.

Q: What could be a cause of my stomach pains?
Lately, I’ve been having stomach pains after I eat. Right after my stomach feels uneasy, and sometimes I feel like I need to vomit. I never have though. It doesnt seem to matter what I eat. I also seem to be getting hungry faster. Right after I eat my stomach will growl and I still feel hungry, but I also feel sick. Does anybody know what could be wrong? I dont want to go to a doctor yet incase its not very serious, so Id like to get an idea of what could be wrong.

A: there could be a range of reasons why your stomach act up after you eat.
it could be that you eating habits aren’t normal causing irregular acid buildup within the stomach or it could be gas.

explain how long u’ve been having the pain & does it radiate or move to anywhere else.
try using an antacid 1 hr after eating.

Q: Can stomach pains be related to the time of day?
I get stomach and intestinal pains if I eat in the morning.
This is not related to food, I have changed my diet several times.
This is not related to sleep, the same thing happens if I wake up in the morning or if I’ve already been awake all night.

What might be causing this? How can illness be specific to the time of day? Could this be psychosomatic?

Any information is appreciated.

Q: Why do I keep getting really bad stomach pains before my period?
I have never suffered with period pains, but over the last year i keep getting really bad stomach pains just before my period.
The pain is so bad i have to lay down and curl up. Once it starts, its with me all day and seems to get worse if I eat or drink anything.
I came off my pill to see if that helped but its exactly the same still.

Once my period starts I am fine.

A: Its called PMS

Q: What is causing my very bad stomach pains?
I’ve been having very bad stomach pains for about two weeks, what could be causing this? The pains are coming from my left side by my kidney area. Please help.

A: Your probably eating something that makes your stomach upset.

Q: Why do have stabbing pains in my stomach after intercourse?
Sometimes after i have sex with my partner i get stomach pains, like im being stabbed with a knife. why is this?

A: I heard people say it could be a tilted uterus or something. Also it could be he’s hitting the cervix a lot, or if you come it could be due to muscle contractions. Also some gynaecological conditions like endometriosis or an ovarian cyst can cause this. Also some people say it can just be normal with all the bumping from sex especially if it’s rough. Go to your doctor…
