Q: chest pains?
hi. i have chest pains i’ve had them for 4 months so far. i’ve been to the doctor and told me that it was not my heart but that
i had costochondritis he gave me a streroid medicine. it still hurt so i went back and they did an ekg,and and xray. both came back fine. how can iget rid of this pain? how long does it take to get rid of costochonfdritis? what about having a problem with my aotra or cancer?
A: You may just being having stress or anxiety attacks. Calm down and learn some breathing exercises. You can also get a QLink they help reduce stress. Maybe your diet is also contributing to the pain, it may be causing excess gas, try cutting back on red meat and try eating more fish and turkey, and eat more fruits and vegetables. And keep a good supply of water on hand. You need to stay hydrated.
Q: Chest pains?
I have an LVH & high bp. I’m on Cardizem 300mg. I have chest pains almost every day. It either feels like sharp pins & kneedles in my heart or just an ache. The pain is also under my armpit and sometimes in my shoulder blade. It lasts for hours and my bp goes up to about 140/90. I have been on bp meds for three months. I have had chest x-ray, EKG & echocardigram. I am scheduled for a stress test next week.
I was diagnosed with LVH & high bp three months ago after having heart attack like symptoms and going to the ER. Until that point I felt fine. I am an active 42yr old woman.
1. Is it normal to feel chest pains – I was under the impression the bp meds would stop that. I am doing very little physical activity compared to what I used to do because of this.
2. What caused heart attack symptoms in the first place, I obviously had high BP & LVH for a while and I don’t think they have any symptoms.
I know I should have asked the Cardiologist but I never thought of it.
A: 140/90 isnt that high. My dads is 165/100. I have had chest pain since I was a kid and the doctors say nothing is wrong. Been to the ER several times over the years with intense pain. Still dont kno what was causing it. If u had all the tests I wouldnt worry about it. I have a high resting pulse it is always about 100 and sometimes can be high as 120
Q: Chest PAINS!!!!!!?
I am a 17 year old male. I have been very active with sports and stuff my whole life. I am 140 pounds and 5′10″. About a month ago i smoked marijuana. I went into a frenzy where i thought i was having a heart attack. It scared me so much that i called 9-1-1. They hooked me up to the heart screen and it was fine and they took a finger pulse. they also did an EKG which came out 100% normal!!! Now off and on at random times i get these chest pains and tightness which has gone on for about 3-4 weeks. I went to the doctor got a blood test-it was excellent. got an echocardiogram (they listen to the heart and watch it on a computer. It was 100% normal infact verygood they said. i now have a heart monitor which when i have the pain i hit a button and it reads my heart and that read goes straigh to the doctor so they can see if anything is wrong. and nothing has ever came up. These pains are demoralizing and scare me. I just want them to go away. ANY SUGGESTIONS OR IDEAS!!!!! thanks, god bless!
yes i relized how bad smoking marijuana is. And i know i will never do it again. It is horrible and it has ruined my summer. I just want it to stop ruining my life. I dont have guilt about it its not a secret i have told ppl. while i do feel bad about it i dont feel terrrible. i just wanna enjoy life again.
Any more ideas guys? i am stumped. any one that has smoked pot before and got chest pains? how long did they last and did you find out what it was??? thanks
A: You might have asthma. I play alot of sports also . so when my chest starts getting tight and i get pains I just use my inhaler. you should ask your doctor about that. Or you might just me having heart burn. && stop smoking pot. That would probably help alot .
good luck . && be carefull.

Q: chest-pains?
hi yahoo’ers, i’m 35 years old and quite a heavy smoker(roll ups) and am struggling to breath in properly, i can manage to breath in about 60-70% before i get this pain in my chest. its not a sharp pain but it’s just there. my missus has rang my local doctors but they say go to hopital, but i don’t think its that serious. about 5yrs ago i had a blood clot but all thats in the past and i don’t think its another one. any help please.
A: This does not sound like Myocardial infarction, i.e., heart attack, nevertheless this may be serious. Chest pain can be due to COPD (common illenss in smokers). Your air passages are likely compromised, air exchange is also likely to be compromised. You MUST see a doctor in hospital. Also, STOP SMOKING, IT WILL KILL YOU DUE TO CANCER OR COPD OR OTHERS, the list of fatal diseases due to smoking is endless.
Q: What causes temporary chest pains and numbness in left arm?
I get temporary chest pains that last 10 minutes and when I get those, my left arm goes numb? What can cause this? The last time I had this was about 2 weeks ago and it occurrs about once a month.
A: Get to a Dr. fast. You need to be checked out thoroughly. If you experience these symptoms before your appointment get to an emergency room immediately. Maybe you have angina pains, and need medication. But maybe something more serious is going on and causing damage. Please get medical attention! Best wishes to you.
Q: What can cause chest pains for months straight?
I started having chest pains last june, i have been to the ER twice and they took chest x-rays and ekgs, i was recommended to a cardiologist because i had a slightly abnormal ekg, had an echocardiogram and everything was normal, I take Cardizem for the pains but its not helping. Exercise makes the pain go away, it usually happens when i am resting or when i drink caffeine. The pains are on my left side and in left arm, not under sternum like typical angina. What could be causing these pains?
A: I had the same thing, had many tests and it was all anxiety. You should get checked out for stress. I thought I was having heart attacks, but it was all stress. Who would of thought.
Q: How can you tell if your chest pains are heart attack or good old acid reflux?
I have been having sharp chest pains during the night and it affects my arm sometimes. It also gives me a head ache and my chest burns. What type of doctor would you recommend to start with?
A: Arm + chest means heart attack!
Please don’t hesitate to see a doctor as soon as possible
Just a GP to start with, and he/she can refer you to the appropropriate specialist.
Q: What can chest pains be caused from other than your heart?
I’m having these chest pains and shortness of breath and I am hurting in my back. I get this from time to time but I’ve had an EKG done on my heart but didn’t have any problems. I am 32 years old. I’m thinking allergies or something. I don’t think it could be heart burn b/c of the shortness of breath. Please no rude remarks.
Does anybody think this could be a sign of asthma?
A: its possible that it could be stemming from your lungs. i have had the same thing and they told me it was my lungs. especially with the shortness of breath and back pains. i would recommend returning to your doctor and having him/her check your lungs. and even if it isn’t, how could being sure hurt anything?
*edit*
i have severe asthma, and as far as chest pains, it feels more like an intense pressure pushing on your chest, not a sharp pain, and it shouldnt effect your back. so in my opinion, it is not asthma, but i am not a doctor. but my best guess still remains a pinched nerve or maybe a muscle problem around your lungs and ribs. the only way to know for sure is to bring these thoughts up to your doctor. you have established it is not your heart, now begin to explore other areas of your chest.
Q: Why do I get chest pains after drinking soy milk?
I really cannot handle drinking regular milk, my stomach always hurts. So I switched to soy milk and I’ve been drinking that for a couple of months. But now I noticed that shortly after I drink soy I get sharp chest pains. Why is this?
No I don’t think it’s heartburn, it’s a different kind of pain. Usually heartburn lingers awhile for me but with the sharp pains it’s only for a couple of seconds and then it goes away. But when it occurs it hurts.
A: I have the same problem you do, but with me regular milk gives me stomach AND chest pains. I heard thought that soy milk gives you gas! so i don’t see how it would help your stomach, but the gas could go up to your chest area, that’s what gas does sometimes, so that might be it. Try lactaid, that didn’t work for me either .. i’m a lost cause ..
Q: Why do i get sharp chest pains when i breathe multiple times a day that last 2-3minutes?
Since saturday i have been getting sharp chest pains when i breathe multiple times a day. It happens maybe 10-15 times a day and it comes on all of the sudden and lasts about 2-3 minutes. It is kinda scaring me and i could use any piece of information or advice you have got. Please comment. Thanks.
A: If your only breathing multiple times per day then no wonder you are having chest pains. J/K.
You could have pleurisy, it’s an inflammation of the lining of your lungs I’ve had it before and thought I was going to die! It really hurts but all that can be done is to take anti-inflammatory meds.
Q: What could be causing me to get chest pains around my heart area?
I woke last night and rolled over onto my back and had severe chest pains around my heart last someone was sqeezing it really hurt to breath deeply but eventually cleared, my chest still feels a bit sore today.
No dont do much exercise dont really have time to busy running around after my 3 year old and dont drink as much water as i should. dont think id go as far as having a heart attack even tough it was very painful but maybe if it happens again ill get it checked.
A: The lungs and heart are surrounded by linings that are coated with an oily fluid, so as your heart beats, and your lungs breath, it stops them all rubbing together. If you lay in one place for a very long time then the fluid could be squeezed out leaving two organs partly dry, nothing is noticed until you move position or take a deep breath, well you know what happens next, hurts doesn’t it. If this happens occasionally, then no worries. however if it hurts with every breath, or the same pain with every heartbeat, then you need to see your dr. Infection is the most likely problem, although rare, it can also be a part of arthritis.
Q: How come I sometimes get really bad chest pains when drinking drinks such as soda or vitamin water?
It only happens sometimes, but when I drink something such as Pepsi, I get these really bad chest pains. They last for quite a while too and they are constant.
With vitamin water, it only happens when I drink dragonfruit flavor
A: it could be the acid i would stop drinking soda’s if this keeps happening with that type maybe a sprite would be better or a coke etc..
with vitamin water just don’t drink that flavor
Q: How are you supposed to tell if chest pains are a heart attack or indigestion?
I’ve just hear the ad. on the radio saying that if you have chest pains go to the hospital but what if the problem is indigestion?!?
A: I once went to the hospital because I was suffering from a heart attack. They were absolutely marvellous. It’s amazing how calm these people are in such extreme and dire circumstances. Despite my predicament, I couldn’t help but admire their professionalism!
They saved me in a matter of seconds, I’m so relieved to say, and do you know what they used to do this???
Gaviscon! Gaviscon! I had no Idea that you could treat impending heart failure with that stuff. Amazing!
