Q: I have high blood pressure associated with left side chest pain.?
I went to the hospital yesterday to have it checked out but after a heart ultra sound and ECG and various blood tests everything was normal with my heart. What did happen though was my blood pressure went sky high and had to bought down by medication while at the hospital. Is this the cause of my left side chest and shoulder blade pain.? Even though the pain today isnt so bad as yesterday should i be concerned with my heart and health?
A: Yes, you should be concern.
What you had at the hospital could be called a hypertensive crisis, which is really a diagnosis of very high blood pressure based on a sliding scale of severity. I’m glad to hear that your EKG was normal as were your cardiac enzymes (blood test).
However, how old are you and what is your cholesterol level?
High blood pressure + high cholesterol can cause blood vessel blockage, and a block blood vessel that feeds the heart will result in a heart attack. Your age plays a factor in how good and flexible your blood vessels are, as one gets older the pipes get more rigged, high blood pressure can cause them to break or burst (aneurysms).
See your GP or Family doctor and find out why your blood pressure is high. Blood pressure medication may be needed.
Control your blood pressure and lower your cholesterol.
Diet and exercise and you will be fine.
Q: left side chest pain for months? What could it be?
I went to a clinic, they did an xray and a blood test.
The xray showed up normal and my cholesterol was 152. The doctor said it’s not cholesterol because clogged arteries would take years to build up.
The pain only last for 1-2 seconds and sometimes (rarely) even happens in the right side of the chest.
It usually happens when I’m sitting slouched over or laying down.
I’m 6 feet, 281 pounds.
sometimes I feel it in the neck and jaw as well.
A: Well, it’s not a cardiac problem or a lung problem because they would’ve been picked up by the x-ray and the cholesterol test. If you play a lot of sports, you could have damaged the left pectoral muscle (pulled it). I would simply advise you to relax, maybe stay off of the sport for a week and if it’s still bothering you, go back to your doctor.
Q: left side chest pain when running?

A: i remember learning this last week, its something about sugars in ur body, and ur body is dehydrated but u dont feel it
Q: Left side chest pain right over my heart?
feels like spasms they come on 3-4 times a day for the last 3 months, could this be heart related? how long does cardiac pain usually last?
A: It could be heart related. Also could be your muscles, chest wall pain. You said spasms, so sounds like muscles. You might have some arthritis!
When this happens, lay down flat, and put both arms over your head, on whatever your laying on. If pain is still there within 5 or 10 minutes, go to the Emergency Room! I use to get the chest wall pains, and I have arthritis. The doc once told me to do this, and if the pain didn’t go away in that time frame to then seek medical help, as if MIGHT be heart.
Anyhow do yourself a favor and get it checked anyway, just to be safe! You can never be too safe when it comes to the heart!
Q: What causes chest pain in the left side of chest?
Yesterday I got a really sharp pain in the left side of my chest while I was watching a movie. It worsened when I started moving around. I don’t know what caused the pain.
A: A lot of people are saying that it could be a heart problem which while true, in my opinion is less likely than it being a G.I. disturbance, for example, acid-reflux or gas. The reason I say this is because based on your description, it sounds like you had no other symptoms besides brief pain. Often, heart problems present with more than just chest pain. Other symptoms that could signal a heart problem include weakness, shortness of breath, pain that radiates to your jaw or shoulder, fainting, nausea, fast heart beat, confusion–too many to mention. If this is the first time that you’ve ever experienced this pain, keep an eye on it and track your symptoms. If you HAVE experienced this pain before, I would make an appointment with your Doctor right away. If you want to err on the side of caution, call your doctor, let him/her know your symptoms, and see if they want you to come in. Best of luck to you!
Q: Everybody get left side chest pain but i want to know why i am getting right side pain?
i get right side pain sometimes but not always
A: If you are jumping into conclusion that it connected to heart problem, that is wrong. Please take a deep breath and see if there is pain.In case there is pain ,it is due to lung problem. If the pain is consistent consult a physician.

Q: Left side chest pain?
Ok i have random chest pains on left side of my chest, i have had like 8 EKG’s done over this year, blood work, stress test…ect, i went back yesterday to my cardiologist and he said that i am fine but wasn’t sure why i was having pains there. My rheumatologist says i have fibromyalgia and that some pain would come from that with having costochondritis but he said if it radiates thru the chest i should have it looked at so i did.My question is what could this be and what doctor do i need to see if its the muscles there? I did feel something tear when i was moving a hot water heater like 6 months ago but the cardiologist said if something was tore the pain would not move around. What could this be? Thanks
A: You’ve been to two specialists who don’t believe it’s significant enough to investigate further. It might be a good idea for you to stop worrying about it as it will probably go away all by itself. Costochondritis and intercostal musle sprain take time to heal but they do go away.
God bless.
Q: left side chest pain, what could it be?
I am a 34 year old male, about 65kgs. For the past 2 weeks or so, I have had Chest pains on the left side of the chest, mainly above the nipple but sometimes I have discomfort all around it. On some occasions the pain travels to my shoulder Also, the pain is sometimes present around the left shoulder and below near the blade. A few times the pain spreads to the right side of my chest. It doesn’t feel like indigestion, and I don’t have any problems with exotic foods. Sometimes it hurts to breathe, other times I feel like I am wheezing.
A: Sometimes gas can cause this (an example only), but I would recommend seeing your doctor for further evaluation of the situation to see what they think could be going on.
Q: left side chest pain with normal ecg and chest xray?
i’m 18 years old, 19 in two weeks and for about the past 2 to 3 weeks i’ve been having on and off dull achy left side chest pain. a few days ago, i finally had enough, it’s been scaring me way too much. i have problems with anxiety and this situation definitely wasn’t making it better. i went to the emergency room where i had a chest x-ray and an ecg/ekg and blood work done and from what the doctor’s told me it all came back normal. they told me it was all stress related because i have recently moved out of state and away from my parents for the first time. but i still don’t know if i’m satisfied with the answer i was given. i mean, the pain comes randomly, i don’t even have to be thinking about it or anything stressful. also when this happens, my left arm gets a sore feeling and starts to feel like it’s starting to fall asleep, it tingles. honestly, it scares me. a lot. i have no idea if it really is stress or anxiety or maybe even a muscle strain.
definitely not on any illicit drugs.
A: Chest pain is very tricky and can be very decieving. Chances are given your age and the fact that you are normally healthy, it probably is related to stress or a muscle strain. If your x-rays and EKG were normal, I would start exploring other options besides a cardiac problem. Cocaine and other illcit drugs are also very common causes of chest pain, along with overuse of muscles and stress.
Q: Small chest pain on left side when swallowing liquid and food?
I just did a pretty heavy chest workout the other day, and now, whenever I drink and swallow food, I get a small quick pain in the left upper chest area. Could this be related to the heavy chest workout?
I’m in my 30s now. When you start getting sharp little pains in you chest, you ask about it.
Thanks heather. No, no pain down my arms. It is isolated to the area I mentioned. I did a heavier chest workout than normal the other day, and that may have something to do with it.
A: I hear you on the “in the 30s” point of view. I’m 31 now and just went to the ER for chest pains a couple of days ago. If it is not pressure, or extening down your arm… or accompanied with shortness of breath, dizziness, etc… you’re probably fine. If it persists for more than a couple of days, you might want to call the doctor. Good Luck!
Q: Pregnant, intermittent left side chest pain, help
?
Yesterday I had intermittent chest pain on the left side of my chest, I thought it was gas and it went away, so I just went to sleep. I woke up this morning and for the past couple of hours I’ve had intermittent chest pain on my left side, lasting a couple of seconds each time; it’s mild pain and it almost feels like a burning sensation, but I’m getting really worried
I’m almost 11 weeks pregnant. I’ve had a lot of anxiety during this pregnancy, I spent an hour crying this morning because I’m so scared of this ’symptom’. Please help
Has anyone ever experienced this?
It doesn’t really ease because it’s not there constantly, it’s more intermittent (comes and goes) and I just noticed I was really involved doing something else and I haven’t felt it…could it be anxiety??
A: hi, this is a hard one,
when i was about 12 weeks i had a stitch like pain behind my left breast,

is it a pain that goes stronger when you inhale/exhale,
and hows your posture, i know i slumped alot in early pregnancy, which has now (at 35 weeks) givin me sore ribs and one wonky leg,
hope you find your answer, try not to worry, and remember yuo should have a midwife, thats what there there for too, to reassure you and insure your comfortable during this journey,
Q: left side chest pain?
I have this weird , kind of light stabbing pain in the left side of my chest up to my neck, sometimes i can feel it in my back; it moves from down there up, it isn’t constantly there but it always comes. When I breathe in deep, I feel the pain, and when i’m just sitting there i feel it (breathing in seems to make it come quicker). I’m 18 years old, 5′1 100 lbs vegetarian , overall healthy with a healthy family. What does this sound like ? is it anything serious ? It doesn’t HURT but it kind of hurts , in an uncomfortable feeling. It’s not indigestion because I know how that feels
well i have an overall healthy family (no history of heart problems).
A: See a doctor. It’s good to eat whole grain foods. Just look at the cheerios box.
I don’t know you might have heart problems.
Do you do cardio?
see a doctor. Maybe it’ll pass though.
Q: Any idea what this could be… left side chest pain and can’t catch breath?
I started having this really sharp pain on the left side of my chest extending to the middle part of my chest. I can’t seem to take a full breath and it seems to make it easier to catch my breath if I raise my arms above my head. The weird part is that this started hurting Saturday about noon and lasted all day (nonstop). I woke up Sunday with the pain mostly gone and everything seemed fine. I was even able to go to play basketball yesterday without any discomfort. Everything was great until this morning (Tuesday) on my way to work it came back and seems even worse as it hurts further towards the right side of my chest now. It hurts much worse if I am standing and the pain level seems to stay about the same level.
I just had a physical about 2 months ago and nothing came back irregular.
Age: 31

Don’t smoke
Don’t drink

A: Two possibilities come to mind, pleurisy, infection of the pleural space which is the area between the lung and the covering or a spontaneous pneumothorax which is a tiny sort of blow out in the lung. Regardless you need to see a doctor. I might had it doesn’t not sound cardiac in nature.
Q: Please! Should i run to the emergency room? left side chest pain!!?

Its not so bad that it wont let me do my regular activities but its there, my left side breast is very tender and i feel like its burnin hot, im wondering if its just the reflects of the pain inside my chest. I find myself grabing my chest with pain. Now the left side of my back is hurting as well. It comes and goes but its being on for about 2 hours now. I am really scared. I had a misscarriage about 3 months ago and we had to run to the emergency room and we are still stock with a 3000 dollar bill, so i dont wanna go to the emergency room if its not really an emergency. i also dont have inssurance and we are struglin with money nowadays, what do you guys think it is? Please help!
I am taking birth control pills Loestrin 24 to be exact. do you think this could be eat? I am also not so good on exercisin, do you think thats the cause? thank you!
No its not coming from the breast, its below the breast i think and now my back is hurting, please dont make go to the emergency room just so they tell me its a muscle or something, we really dont have money
I do not have a doctor i can just call, i dont have insurance
A: I can’t help you with todays pain, but I can help you with the old bill. Go in to the hospital’s accounts department in person and explain your finances. Tell them that you need a payment plan that you can handle. Show them your pay stubs or last years tax forms. They should be able to make a payment plan that you can live with. They won’t offer to help, you have to go in face to face to get the best deal. If they refuse tell them you will have no choice but to declare bankruptcy. Usually they are very nice and will help you.
