Q: Anyone have ideas for chronic neck pain relief?
I have had this chronic neck pain for a few years now. I have gone to neurosurgeon, chiropractor, ct scans, mri’s, amytriptoline, feldine, and still continute to suffer from it. It’s all day everyday, but is present when I “move”. It’s located on the right back-side of my neck just at the top of the spine. They have found nothing in the x-rays or the scans. Chiropractics and the meds did help a little, but I didn’t cure it. I am looking for all and any help possible. Thanx so much to anyone who answers!!!
A: I broke my neck in 98 & never showed up on x-rays for 18 months. I can relate to what Ur going through. Till you get to a health supply store to get a herbal tube U shaped sack that U microwave & place on your neck try this. Get a towel, get it damp & nuke it then place around your neck. Simple exercises like slowly moving head L – R & same thing up & down. Only move till before it hurts. If your Doc is not giving U pain meds, try a methadone clinic. What U can get on line will not be strong enough unless U get soma. Pain meds are not that strong. Tramadal is about the strongest you can get. Be careful about ordering from overseas. Ask Ur doc for trigger point shots, these work wonders for about 3-4 weeks. There is the kind you get while in front of an x-ray machine that go in your disc, these last for months, but they do hurt. As long as you have been in pain you should get into pain Mgt. That’s where you get relief, get Ur doc to refer U to one. I hope I’ve helped you, I know what it’s like.

Q: What is the best neck cushion for pain relief?
I strained my neck in a car accident and the hospital-grade therapy pillows aren’t giving me enough support so my neck ends up cramped if I’m sitting upright for more than an hour. I’d like to get a neck cushion that I can wear to support my head and keep my pain down, any suggestions?
A: I would reccomend a u shaped pillow for you if you are going to be sitting upright for more than one hour. These neck pillows are often known as “travel pillows”- because they are great for while you are on an airplane.

Q: Neck Pain Relief. Sore Neck. Ear Infection?
I am recently suffering from neck pain. It is on my left side and the pain is in my neck ap to the left side of my head. It was like this yesterday but im having problems sleeping. I recently used ear drops to get rid of wax. Could this be an ear infection? What should i do because paracetamol doesn’t seem to be working. (teenager)
A: Sounds to me like you may have strained a muscle in your neck. I had the same problem about two weeks ago. Woke up every morning with a massive headache shooting all the way down the right side of my neck and down a few inches into my shoulder blade. From the base of the right side of my skull.
Ibuprofen for a few days, some mild heat while you are awake, some simple stretches you can find in a snap on Y!Search, and you should be ok in a couple weeks.
BUT, please go see a doctor just to be safe, and as soon as possible if it doesn’t seem to be getting any better. I am in no way a professional, just offering some advice…
Hopefully it was at least helpful.
Cheers and Happy Holidays
Q: Neck Pain relief?
I woke up two mornings ago and had a hard time getting up as I feel like I slept on my neck wrong.Yesterday it was so bad it was hard to get around. I don’t have a fever or any other symptoms. The pain is in the middle back of my neck and radiates to my shoulders. Both shoulders are extremely tight right now! I plan on going to dr tonight after work, but any solutions temporarily? I need to make it through the workday.
A: It could be that you did just sleep on your neck and shoulders in a bad way. However, it is also possible that you hurt a disc while sleeping. Strangely enough, I actually had 3 discs in my neck crushed while I was sleeping! (seems my husband had grabbed my pillows out from under my head as he slept, just crushing my discs……..like a bad whiplash). I am interested in learning if your arm feels any discomfort or numbness, and if your thumb, or fingers feel strange to you. If the pain continues, do get checked. I was nearly paralyzed for life, because I couldn’t understand how my discs could possibly be crushed! (they were sitting all crushed at the front of my throat!)
Q: neck pain?
i have bad neck pain on the left side of my neck.
its been hurting for about 2 days now.
i finding it hard to sleep and do everyday tasks.
i cant even turn my head to the left without it hurting.
any ideas on what it might be?
any ideas for pain relief?
A: It might be me. I am a little annoying.
It could be a trapped nerve, they are really painful and restrictive.
Try gently massaging the sore area after a warm bath to relax the muscle.
Alternatively go see you GP they will suggest a solution.
best of luck, bright blessings.
Q: natural neck pain relief!?
have a curvature of the spine and the last few days ny neck has been hurting.
I think its because of late nite studying/late nite computer work.
Anyone no of any natural ways to help my neck?
Thanks!
A: Moist heat. Wet a small towel in hot water, wring it out and place it around your neck for 20 minutes replace as towel cools. Also apple vinegar is supposed to help sore muscles. Rub it in where it hurts.
Q: What is the best way to relief pain in the neck and shoulder after sleeping on it the wrong way?
A: Good question. I always sleep on my side and get pain around my shoulder blade. It’s like a crick or knot from sleeping the wrong way. I get a 5 lb. dumb bell and lift it around and try to work out the knot along with some Advil or Alieve.
Q: What pain relief tablets are good for trapped nerves in neck/shoulder. Please help?
My dad has had a bad shoulder since Wednesday, he went to the doctor on Thursday and he told him he had a trapped nerve and prescribed him Tramadol, but this has many side effects and doesn’t really numb the pain for him.
He is in a lot of agony so i wondered if anyone has experienced this and/or has any advice on pain relief and if you know what sort of time it could take to subside. I will pass on any answers
Thank you !
A: Tramadol is a horrid drug and can cause side affects that are very unpleasant.
Often they will prescribe a mix of drugs for nerve pain which work much better but this involves prescription strengh Co codamol and others that take time to work. Which is why they Doctors go for a hard hitting one to start with.
Might actually get some relief from a painkiller that is an anti inflammatory as well. A pharmacist will be able to help you and advice you on the drugs sold from behind the counter.
In theory as it is a trapped nerve it should be a short term problem and is best relieved by being proactive and paying to see a physiotherapist or chiropracter as quickly as possible.
Q: Stiff neck? how to relief the pain?
So the day before yesterday I forgot my posture while sitting on the computer & I was watching tv so my neck was turned to the right while being on the computer..I did this for like 2 hours cause I was looking for a phone plan online… anyhow..the window behind me was also open and I was wearing a tshirt..but it wasnt cold outside..
Yesterday I woke up with neck pain, on the left side of my neck.
It wasn’t too bad, let my husband rub it etc, then at night it got a little worse and I put a heat pad on it.
Now last night I couldnt sleep and woke up cause of the pain..several times..then I almost couldnt get out of bed, my neck would hurt too much so I’d have to push myself up with my hands..Or hold my neck while getting up.
So today was really painfull, i cant really move my head down without pain, same to the left side..but i can move it to the right fine.
Also when I lift my left arm up I get this shooting pain..
The shower reliefs it but just for a minute..
Wtf is wrong?

Q: Natural pain relief for neck/ back?
Hi,
i was wondering if anyone could help me. i’ve had a neck injury and the pain travels to my back.. its unbearable most of the time. the doctor said the muscles in my neck are out of place, pushing against my spine, making it hurt. i was put on Norspan but went off it cuz it made me so sick. im using a pro tens machine but doesn’t seem to be doing much. i can barely get through a few hours without being in really bad pain. can anyone please help me with pain relief without using drugs..
Much appreciation..
A: You may be a candidate for non surgical spinal decompression. Google this in your area to see if you can find a Dr that provies this treatment. You will probably need to have a cervical MRI to see if you are candidate.

Q: What is the best, ointment or spray or solution for severe back and neck pain?
I had two surgeries: neck fusion and hip graft, and lower back leminactomy. I have severe pain morning, day and night. What kind of solution, spray, or ointment is the best pain relief for pain? I don’t want any type of drugs or medication. Please, can anyone help me.
A: First, ointments and sprays are not designed for severe pain.
Suggestions:
1] start taking glucosamine, 3 pills a day if about 150 pounds, 4 if over 200. Also take omega three fish oils.
2] maintain normal weight – less stress on already tender joints
3] walk or swim or whatever you can do to keep active – arthritic patients who exercise regularly report less pain
4] do gentle stretching exercises every day
5] go to the health food store, and ask for a hot hemp stick – it’s like an overgrown chapstick you can put on the part that hurts [ no drugs - has hot peppers, eucalyptus, peppermint, cloves etc. that you can just rub on! [ P.S. - do not grab it by accident and put on your mouth - talk about hot lips! ]
6] consider a chiropractor
7] consider accupuncture
8] consider professional massage
